One of my friend pretty often sits on her 12 y.o. son's lap,nothing sexual,at least what i saw,she just sat on his lap when she haven't another place to sit
i think it's normal especially if there is no other seat in the house. it's probably just normal affection. i wouldn't worry. my friend's sister used to do that to me and it was never anything sexual.

Not sure I'd say it's totally normal, but it needn't be anything to worry about. My mom had a phase like that when I was a teenager. I didn't say anything; it just kinda fizzled out.
