Is it normal if i think my family died if they don't answer the phone?

Whenever I call my parents, and they don't answer by the second time. I always feel like they fell off a bridge or crashed in the freeway. There was a time in my life when I felt bitterness and felt happy residing in dark thoughts, but since I'm better and optimistic, shouldn't these thoughts go away along with my previous behavior?

I've felt that too. It sounds like you've still got some lingering anxiety/depression. Try to work on relaxing yourself when you start slipping into those dark thoughts. Exercise works wonders. Or call somebody you really trust and tell them what you're thinking. Sometimes saying that stuff aloud makes you realize how silly it sounds when it's not just in your head.

I'm the same way, like if I just talked to them and they said they'd be home in a couple of minutes but it takes them hours, I immediately think they got in some horrific accident!!

I worry about the same thing! When I was a little kid if my patents weren't there to pick me up at a friend's house at the time they said, I'd worry they crashed or something bad happened.

I used to have that fear as a kid. Walking home from school wondering if I would find my mom dead. She was always asleep when I got home. First she used to have a night job. Later it was depression keeping her in bed. I didn't know that at the time. I just thought mom was....not well. But yeah, I still go through it with family. I get what you mean. Normal IMO.

I guess it shows that you care about them and are worried that something bad might have happend. But i would try to cut tback on thinking they are dead or injured it will only cause you stress.
