If god had wanted to forgive everyone's sins, being omnipotent h/she/it could've just done so rather than sending down a son from heaven to be tortured ..... pure sadism if it were true, but fortunately it's not.

Xmas is a capitalist ripoff and celebrates greed, overeating and drinking too much and adding more waste to our environment.

There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon you." Now... I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, that meant your ass. You'd be dead right now. I never gave much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before I popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. See, now I'm thinking: maybe it means you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here... he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. And I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', ELLENNA. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.

As far as I'm concerned Christmas is all about the birth of the Baby Jesus! Santa Claus doesn't even cross my mind anymore.

Like it or not, regardless of whether you are a Christian, an atheist or other person of faith Jesus was a person who was born, lived and died. He's a real life historical figure! I happen to believe that he is divine and obviously you don't, but neither belief takes away from the fact that he existed! Sorry, I gotta call it like I see it. Jesus was not, is not and NEVER WILL BE a mythical creature.

So true. If you were to give me advice on one of my questions, I'd certainly take you seriously because you're pretty damn smart.

I suppose that's true if you completely take religion out of it. But even then it's a season of peace on Earth and goodwill toward men. In the end, you get as much out of it as you put in.

I'm not the OP but why should only Christmas time be a season of peace and goodwill toward fellow man?
In a perfect world, which will never be attained, every day should be about peace and goodwill... and everyday low prices.

Normal for a recent ex-child to think that. When you grow up, you learn to appreciate things for what they are, even if they aren't fantastical.

You need adults to facilitate the holiday for kids. For example, I work as a part-time mall Santa through the month of December. What kind of Christmas would it be if children couldn't sit on strangers' laps?

I once gotta a job working as an Easter Bunny in a big rabbit suit, I had to get a backround check. Man, I hope all the Santas this year have had backround checks done on them. Not like a backround check completely guarantees that someone isn't a piece of shit molester, because it won't do any good if the person has never been arrested before, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Umm, you haven't heard of winter solstice? That's in your northern hemisphere, here in the southern part of the globe it's summer solstice.
