Is it normal if i put salt on a canker sore and i don't feel a thing?

Every once in a while I'll get a canker sore on my bottom gums. I've heard putting salt on it will make it go away but hurts badly. I've tried that multiple times and I don't feel anything. Is this normal?

    sometimes salt and mustard don't make mine burn either. I've never heard of salt as a cure but I doubt that works. I've had them since I was five and I've never found anything to make them go away. anymore, I just let them run the 10 day course.

    It stings a bit for me, but not terribly. I think that salt on wounds are supposed to hurt a bit tho.
