Is it normal if i get violently angry when someone laughs at my pain?

I confided in a friend and coworker about something bad that happened to me as a small child. Instead of having sympathy he laughed, and decided that piece of information is so funny it should be shared with the rest of my coworkers! So he's telling everyone and laughing his ass off at something that injured and traumatized me as a small child! I got really REALLY angry and the thoughts that went through my head were pretty violent. I wanted to attack him and it took everything I had to stay cool.
Is my reaction understandable or abnormal?

  • I wonder if Kevin Hart has the same issue.

just kill them. do it. just go ahead. but before you do send them letters. make them cry. make them come to you for advice. then once they think its over. cut off their power. smash their cars. and kill them. hide all evidence. dont react until people notice their dead. then, cry all you want, but you will only know that those are fake tears. then once you kill them all. come to me. so we both can go get help together, if i dont kill you first, or if you dont kill me first. we can do this. ( wear glove in the act and burn them when your done) til next time 'm fella.

I don't know what the memory was, but I know how you feel. I think it would be abnormal NOT to become infuriated after someone laughs at you. It's so demeaning to make fun of somebody after they expose their vulnerability. What an asshole!

Yea.. I've had that happen before back when I was in school. I wanted to stick my pencil in their eye. And deff not regret it.

Yes, it's normal for me anyway. I've envisioned myself going on a killing spree more than once.

Hey guys. Wake up!! She said something BAD, not something embarrassing. As for asking about it? I don't think that's anyones business, poking and prodding at someones painful experiences. Honestly

A lot of people laugh at their own childhood stories. Your coworker probably didn't register that it was something to keep hush about.

I think we need to know what the story was in order to properly gauge whether or not they should have been laughing about it.

I have to say that something that embarrassed me as a child would just be a funny story to others. Like when I peed myself or went to school with no underwear on, etc... Maybe he thought you were telling him in order to make him laugh. I tend to tell things with a dead pan face just to laugh at the other people's reactions.
Anyway, providing it wasn't horrible abuse, you should maybe just forgive him for being insensitive because I'm sure it wasn't told out of malice.
