Is it normal i won't eat food that touches?

Ever since I could remember I always refused to eat food that touched. Say if a piece of chicken touched my mashed potatoes. I would cut of the part of the chicken that touched and separate the mashed potatoes that touched then set them aside and not eat them. I also have to completely finish one food before moving on to the next. I just can't bring myself to eat food that has touched other food or switch between types of food when eating. IIN?

I just wanted to know if you knew that regardless what you do, the food will just be churned into ONE thick soup in your stomach?

II have realized this, but it doesn't help. I am still just incapable of making myself eat the food that has touched.

Not normal for most ppl but a fairly common problem for some ppl . In the same area as having to eat one bite of each item on plate , in the same order till done . Most ppl look at ppl with funny rules about eating as quirky as long as you don't have too many rules or try to make others follow your rules with their food .

I don't make other people follow my rules. In fact many people will mix up the food on there plate after learning that I don't like my food to touch just to see my reaction. I just look at them and say, "That isn't my food, so you can do whatever you want with it."

well it would make more sense if they were 2 foods that dont go well together like if you have your dessert on the same plate as the rest of your meal, that kind of bothers me when there is sweet on something that's not meant to be, but i still eat it because it's just wasteful not to of course... but chicken and potatos are good together...

I think it's more of an obsessive compulsive thing.

I've had the same issue all my life... amongst other weird qualities -- like how I chew liquid o.O

How irrational! they're going to touch in you stomach, so why not cut your stomach open and separate them in there too ??

Besides, what if someone made a chicken potato casserole where they were meant to touch? Are you going to freak out? get therapy.

What about food that's supposed to touch? Like pizza toppings? Or foods that you dip?

Foods that dip and pizza toppings are okay to touch. Pretty much if it is baked that way or a condiment of some kind then it doesn't bother me.

i used to eat my food one at a time and try not to let food touch, but wasn't a big deal if it did. now i mix food for better overall flavors in my mouth at once.

I think this is normal. I don't like my food to touch so I always put them in separate containers. Like my pasta will get a separate bowl/mug and my cooked vegetables will get their own mug. I think it helps on keeping the flavours intact.

It's not normal, but I've known other people with this problem. If it's not getting in the way of your life or upsetting you, it's fine. If it's causing anxiety or interfering with your life, though, you should talk to a doctor.

No it isn't causing any anxiety or anything.

I'd do it with some things, yeah. I don't like those baked beans that come in a tin (I love beans and I love tomato sauce but that tinned stuff is really weird and crappy). If I was given them by mistake, I wouldn't eat any of the other food that had "bean juice" on it.
