Is it normal i was this nervous while buying alcohol for the 1st time

I am a 21 year old girl and the day before yesterday I bought alcohol for the first time ever. I went into a store and I was so.nervous because I felt like everyone was judging me I look like I'm 16 years old. I went into 3 other stores because I just could not grab a bottle of red wine and go pay, another thing i didn't know is wine is quite expensive considering what I had budgeted. I ended up buying red wine and put it in my bag. I have not drunk it yet I am waiting for the weekend. So.... is this normal what I did? What was it like for you buying alcohol for the first time?

    I was so stoked! I went the local 7-11 near my uni and the fellow working there had a huge grin on his face and winked over to the booze section because he knew me.

    He said "Hell yar buddy! Happy birthday and save some ladies for me!" (in a very creepy indian chuckle) - no offence anyone.

    Went out the store, chucked the booze in my trunk and had a great party.

    ahhhh the uni days.

    I remeber tha first time I bought beer, I was 16-17 wasn't scared at all, no I didn't use a fake ID.

    Hey anonymous poll creator,( catchy handle) I used to feel the same way. You'll miss it when it's gone. If you wanna mess with yourself go into the store, put your purchase on the counter, take out your cash...but leave your I.D outside!!!!!!Omgomgomg imagonafaint. I know they're gonna ask but i'm crazy.i don't even care if they card me

    i was way younger when i and my friends bought everclear(alcohol) and blacked out for the first time, nobody has ever carded me even though i was clearly under age

    I am 23. I STILL get nervous when I buy alcohol! I feel like I am being judged for even buying it! It is kinda funny, and a little pathetic I guess...sad.

      HAHAHA yes.. so silly of me but I felt super awkward, thank god I mastered the courage to finally buy it. I'm drinking it right now my first ever glass of wine and it's okay-ish.

        Well considering that my first (and only) drink was a bottle of raspberry vodka (not all at once though. that shit's strong) when I was 16 wine is probably a good starting place. 3 more years til I can buy it for myself! And remember. Drink as much as you want. Just don't die from it xD

    I was at bar on my birthday and the bar tender was excited to learn it was my birthday. It was a celebration. When I went to a store alone I didn't think much about it as I expected to be carded since I was always carded for smokes at the time. I have always looked young for my age. I imagine it will be a bigger deal when they stop asking.

    I had no problem buying it for the first time. I did most of my drinking before I was 20 anyway so it wasn't a big deal at all.

    I needed to get drunk to get up the courage to buy alcohol, but I had to buy the alcohol first in order to get drunk....catch-22, man.
