Is it normal i was more stressed as a christian

I've been an atheist for about two years now and I only just realized that I feel happy and more relaxed than back when I went to church. I use to pray a lot for health and success, tried my best to be a good person, and ignored things in life to make room for religion. Now that I don't worry about God or going to Hell, I can just relax and really feel good about myself.
I live on the Biblebelt of America so I've heard many people tell me how they can't imagine their life without God and that they would be lost without religion.

I think it's important to still strive to be a good person though. You don't have to morally sell out just because you don't believe in a higher power.

I'm a Christian, and I can see why you might feel this way. It just removes a huge chunk of rules from your life, and they're pretty strict at times. anyway, I personally don't see myself ever doing that, but I don't get overstressed about being as perfect as I can.
    I respect your decision, though.

People are only stressed over religion when they let it control their life. Live your life to the fullest, yet don't go too extreme(murder, hardcore drugs, etc..) and you will truly be happy

Its just ur take on the whole thing.jesus gives me a sense of warmth and comfort and i dont really care much of heaven and hell and all that. I try beat the devil or beast inside me and become a better person but that is mostley because i find satsfaction when i am a better person. God also gives me satisfaction and hope too

Its text book. We will never have enough evidence to make you see that your imaginary friend isnt real. I have come realise it is just a human thing. Something we created to keep our intelligence from revealing truths that are not ideal to our progression. No one is watching you. You have no greater purpose other than finding a mate and reproducing... for nothing. We are extremely small in the universe, so small your brain wouldnt comprehend. This is the truth. Its terrible, frightening and you dont want it to be true because if it is why live? Dopamine? so you will call it garbage. And this argument will never end.

I'm the same way. Christianity used to have a strong hold on me but now, as an atheist, I'm way more relaxed and able to see things more clearly I think. I think it's because you're not trying to fit your life into what a book and other christians tell you that you should. It makes accepting things much easier.

Yes,religion is great at inducing guilt and shame at perfectly normal healthy human things like homosexuality or masturbation for instance.
