Is it normal: i want to be married with kids & live like 50s housewife

Is it normal that I want to be married with children and living like the 1950s where women stayed at home cooking and cleaning and looking after the children?

I am 28 years old and I still live at home with my parents. I just want to start a family of my own and live a traditional and old-fashioned life.

I know it's not an easy life but it's the life I want.

I know women that are like that. For that, results may vary. Not every woman is cut out for that. I know some women that thrive off caring for children and domestic duties and feel absolute joy from being mothers and being able to give their family the love, attention and time that many working Mothers simply don't have the time to give. However, many feel bogged down, overly stressed and unfulfilled by that type of life. You can't know for sure unless you try.

Living like that, for the women I know, requires good budgeting abilities and financial management skills - trust me, they are FAR from rich. I would recommend you get a college degree or some certification. Life as a housewife is far more challenging than TV shows make it look and you don't want to regret not having a back up plan if it doesn't work for you. Make sure your husband isn't a dick - I've heard of many marriages where the hubby treats the woman as a house servant rather than a contributing member of the household and wife.

That's exactly what I want too but my boyfriend and I we can't afford it because we're not rich enough.

wow this is interesting, that amount of people wanting the same ting I have to say suprises me. Maybe because its not the popular view these days. as you can see OP there are women out there who do want that lifestyle you just gotta keep looking I guess. Like some of the post here, to live that kind of lifestyle you need that kind of lifestyle.these days you need both incomes just to make ends meet.If

i curse the womens movement. Sure, we have more rights, but we still have to clean the house, look after the kids, look good, take care of our husbands, but now we have to work too! I make more money than my SO yet still have all the domestic duties. Its irritating. I just want to be able to take care of my kids and not have to worry about a career.

Where can I find more women like you? Having a 'Betty Draper' style wife is something I've fantasized about for ages. Coming home to a wife and kids is a dream of mine.

You haven't seen later seasons of "Mad Men," have you? Betty's so awful that I've started hating January Jones just on principle.

Betty? Awful? Never. I have actually seen all seasons of MadMen and still think Betty Draper is a wonderful woman. She may become a bit spiteful and may be (extremely) naive, but those are vices that are totally forgivable (with a face like that , anything is :P).I mean, have you seen Donald? If Adulterer were an occupation, there would be no retirement for him. Betty is totally justified. Maybe except in the cases where she's anti-Glenn.

      Aww, that's so cute.

I've never heard of a man wanting that since that means he's the one pulling in the money, but it sounds nice.

Personally I reckon that's a man's lot in life. Forget all that women in the workplace for equality nonsense. My woman is my queen and will be treated as such.

Me too, I don't get why other women think that's degrading or something, I think it'd be great. I love cooking and cleaning and generally taking care of others

YES. That's seriously exactly what I want. But it's like looked down on these days :/
I even feel like my parents would look down on it. My mom tells me to do what makes me happy but she also always says I have so much potential.
I just wanna be a mommy though :b
