Is it normal i want to be in the army, but i don't want to get shot?

I've been wanting to join for a while now, and im really interested in it all. I just dont want to be shot at, or get shot. Is there a sub-division, or secular group that doesn't deal with the death business, but still holds guns? (UK)

Thanks,

Nobody in the army wants to get shot. They signed up to serve their country and protect our way of life regardless of the risk, and in hopes that they don't get shot!

    Simple - join the navy.

You don't get shot at as much on the ships.
But remember you can be sent to augment the ground troops.

or understand that you can't have the glory if you're not willing to take risks.

In the Navy though, i mean, this may sound like a dumb question, however, what primary dangers are there regarding safety? I.e What would be the most common way to be injured/hurt/death.

most common way... being dumb and ignoring safety protocols.

seriously. most injuries are a direct result from people taking safety shortcuts.

i mean you don't even have to worry about what the safety rules are before you join up - they'll tell them to you plain so as you can understand them. they'll even issue you safety equipment as you need, some ships even make some gear (like hearing protection) a mandatory part of your uniform, same as your combat boots.

but start getting lazy about following those safety rules - or getting careless - and that's when things don't go according to plan.

So when you have work to do, follow all the steps, don't take shortcuts, don't be complacent, you'll get through just fine.

What's the risk of the ship sinking or exploding?

            extremely slim.

            They haven't had a ship sink since 1952 - 60 years ago.

The last big tragedy like that was the USS Cole and the ship never sank. Even with a giant hole in the side.

I was in the US Coast Guard for 6 years and it is the safest branch to work in imo. Depending on your job you will more than likely be stationed in a beach town or island and omfg people take care of their bodies men and women I had a few muscles and I was sometimes still kind of sheepish when I had my shirt off. However the anxiety that you feel about getting shot will soon go away. Once you meet some of the goofballs in boot camp you will know that they are cannon fodder and you have nothing to worry about as long as you stay close to them. The military is fun but serious. Real men join the army that’s where you are probably going to get shot at the most. Anyway proud to talk to anyone who will sacrifice their life for another’s. God bless ya.

I dunno about that. Except the rangers. They fight tigers.

Not wanting to get shot it quite normal. I can't imagine why anybody would want to join the military though.

If I was in the army, I wouldn't want to get shot either. Duh :)If you were in the army and told me you did want to get shot, I'd think there's something really wrong with you!

Why don't you just buy a gun and go to the shooting range if all you want is a gun? If you join the military there is always a possibility of combat, and once you sign up, you're basically their free mercenary.

They give you benefits, but no benefit in the world is worth dying for, IMO.

my advise, join the Air Force. They are less likely to get shot, or take a job in the Army as a supply person if you really want to join the Army.

Hate to break it to you, but most people do not want to be shot either. Apparently, being shot is a painful, life-threatening experience, so most people do not want for it to happen to them.

You can be a troop that just overlooks and patrols areas. Is there is a small chance to go in battle.

Your question is like asking, IIN that I don't want to be runover by a car. Of course it's normal, and don't worry, unless you get shipped off into a war or something of that sort, the likelihood of getting shot is slim. I'd go with joining the marines.

the Marines have a better chance of getting shot than the Army does.

  • If your military isn't at war you wont get shot. Become a cop and your way more likley to get shot...or stabbed or something shitty.
