Is it normal i want the jobs no one knows how to get!

You know those jobs no one thinks about. I want to get one of those jobs and am not sure how to get them. I want to do something creative in the art field like making stamps, stickers, logos, get in a art museum and designing things like rides. However these are jobs people have and no one seems to know how to get. I try looking for them online and the internet doesn't have any information on it. Most of the teachers I have asked have no idea how to get into any of this stuff either. Some one is doing this stuff though. Anyone know anything about getting into these type of things? When I say design I do not mean engineer I mean how it looks. Not the person building them.

Good call. And good to see a young person looking for a career outside the box.

      • Well I am not good at a lot and I don't have schooling. So I am trying to get a career. I have proof I would be good at. Everyone else I know have things like computers and mechanical knowledge and metal shop. So I really can not compete with my business certificate. So I thought of something different. Maybe instead of doing something everyone is going for pick a job no one thinks about. The issue is no one knows how to get them either and there is a reason not many apply for them. I have a job now but its only temporary. So I planning on what to do after.

Since you can't find anything, why not start your own business doing these kinds of things? I'm sure there are other people out there in the same position as you and are just as eager to find this kind of job. Advertise it, try to find people interested and go from there.

It's all you know, kiddo. Start networking.

What you have to do is find businesses that have use for your skills (I would reccomend either a graphic design or a BFA major, graphic design will give you more computer based classes so that's probably what you want) and then apply for jobs at those sorts of places. I feel like jobs like that are harder to find postings for, you might need to start with something in a related field to get yourself in to the right communities so you can hear about opportunities.

I know for me I want to get a job at a gallery or something like that because it'll help get me started in the art world. I'm a traditional artist though.

    • The point is that I don't know where to apply to get these jobs. They have no information about them online and no one seems to know where to go. Yet its something you know is being done but people know nothing about.

Well if you like doing stickers and logos, try a company that produces audio tech or computers or something like that, those places would have use for a designer and many of them make stickers and things to put on your gear.

For stamps you'd have to get in touch with the post office and find out how they go about choosing the stamp designs they sell.

Not sure where to look for designing rides, to do so with the intention of the ride being build would require either you to have some background in engineering or partner with someone who does, who can take your design and incorporate the necessary physics but work with you through the process to keep the design consistent, you know? That's the only one I'm not entirely sure about because it's more engineering than art related.

If by ride design, you mean roller coasters, ive already looked into it. It takes a lot of engineer training and whatnot and too much trouble

The best way to get these jobs is to find a company who does this sort of thing. For example if you want to design rides, find a ride you're interested in, find which company designed it and apply for that company - WIkipedia is a big help for this :) Not sure about the others, but I'd say that this idea isn't too abnormal.

If you want to make stamps, go to school for graphic design. Then apply for a job designing stamps with the post office.
