I really wanna play bass guitar in a band. Out of all of the choices i choose bass even though its usually the instrument you can hear the least and its usually the least popular. Dont most people only play bass cause guitar is already taken? Is it weird for a girl to be interested in bass the most?
Bass is cool. A good bassline can make a bad song a good song, but a bad one can make a good song awful. It's an important job, plus in my experience bass sounds much more prominent live than it does recorded, so you shouldn't be inaudible.
Look up on youtube some music by Jeff Beck with Tal Wilkenfeld, you'll understand how much the bass is important if played properly, but make sure you got a good subwoofer.
Try listening to a band without bass - of course you can hear it. There are some guitar players who may think bass is just a second rate guitar. But they're wankers. If you get static just drop a page of sheet music in front of them. That'll shut them up.

I always wanted to be Kim Deal and Kim Gordon! Playing bass is not next best thing. It's the BEST thing! It sounds luscious and the basslines grab me like no other part of a song. Go for it, girl!

You just reminded me of the bassist of my favourite band who left :( And he was my favourite member! So bassists are not all invisible and don't get any attention - bassists are awesome!
I learnt to play on piano, then gravitated to guitar then various other instruments. Bass is my absolute favourite.
(at the moment I sing and play guitar in one band, play clarinet in another and bass guitar in two more)
Bass is badass. I play bass proficiently, so you should be able to as well.
Being in good band equels cred I've been a guitarist bass drums mic keyboard that's all the possible good rolls and in my experience mic is the best and bass is the worst
