Is it normal i think we should all agree on one currency?

This is not favoring the Us, china, japan, Russia, Germany or any other country but I think we should all agree on something. All countries for the most trade with each other and most places are open to legal immigration. Note I said legal. I am not saying we should pick any nations currency but we should all hold a meeting of the world leaders and organize a new currency and make the rate the same for every country. I think it would make trading and moving between waters a lot easier.

    Ideologically it sounds good, but as do most ideologies it fails in practice. As a British citizen I've had front seat experience of the whole euro-zone debate, and for those who partook in the scheme, well, that didn't turn out so dandy now did it? :p

    The US dollar already plays an official role as a form of world currency.

    I'm not too keen on this one size fit all approach when it comes to currency. Look at the Euro zone and it speaks volumes about the issues faced when completely different economies combine under a currency union.

    I'm not completely against the idea of a currency union but there must be set criteria for a country to enter a union in order to keep the integrity of the currency. The Euro zone was originally meant to have it's members fulfill a set group of criteria but they kept moving the goal posts closer for members such as Greece to get into the Euro zone.

    In my opinion Greece should leave the union. For the short term Greece will have sky rocketing interest rates to borrow and potentially a heavily devalued currency and default on it loans in order to start a fresh.

    A single global currency, brought in under a non-sustainable economic model, is destined to fail.

    The single, new global currency, will need to be brought in, in conjunction with the new economic model.

    The old, non-sustainable currencies will continue to exist, until they fail. Let the selfish, stubborn and greedy people eat their worthless money!
