Is it normal i think the ants in my house are on a diet?

...well, there are some ants in my house occasionally. lately they been after the sweetener and all my sugar free products (im a diabetic, my family is not) and stuff like the sugar left wide open doesn't interest them? what is wrong? Why are they on a diet if they're so tiny?
