Is it normal i think people have lost the concept of love?

Everyday I meet my friends and they talk about women, relations, girlfriends. Sometimes they talk about love. One of them used to love a woman, but she refused him. Now he has a girlfriend who just replaces her, but he says he loves her. Some people think that love means just liking a person and building some problems about it. I think they don't know what love is. I know what love is, and it's nothing of these things.

Love is a chemical reaction that doesn't have a set of requirements but is characterised by the increased release of dopamine, nora-adreneline and serotonin among other things.

Let people call their relationships what they wish. It's not your business and shouldn't bother you.

Love is not the equivalent lust, bottom line. Giant flashing sign. Lust is a component of love, but there's so much more to love and making love than the physical attraction.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love

Which alters when it alteration finds,

Or bends with the remover to remove:

O no! it is an ever-fixed mark

    That looks on tempests and is never shaken;

It is the star to every wandering bark,

Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks

Within his bending sickle's compass come:

Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,

But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error and upon me proved,

I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

I do think that love is too apparent in our society. If you listen to a song, watch a movie or read a book, it's almost as if everyone's in love all the time. Hell, you feel abnormal when you're not head-over-heels in love with someone.

I've always liked to compare love to the bird flu. There's so much ado around it, that people with the slightest cold will automatically think they have it.

What are your views on love? Just curious.

    • I was in love twice in my life. I'm quite young and after those experiences I think that love is not a simple thing. Maybe it's only 'cause of my experiences, but I've never felt as well as when I was in love. Maybe it's due to it if today when I hear someone talking about love in that way I feel angry. According to me, love is when you like a person, and you often feel bad for her, but your bad feelings make you feel good. I think love is when you feel that you live only because the person you love lives.

    • I mean love between a man and a woman who want to live together, I mean the feeling you feel when you thank God that a particular person exists, when you think you'd be dead if you didn't met her.

Sounds like someone doesn't know the difference between love and codependancy.

Oh dear. Well that's your thoughts on it and that's just fine. I have never, nor will I ever thank 'god' for anyone or anything. And its a bit drastic to think you'd die if you hadn't met a particular person. Being very grateful that you met them is one thing, and appreciating that they are in your life but I guess I've been around long enough to see it differently. People come and go from our lives all the time regardless of how much we love them or how long we think or hope they will stick around.
