Is it normal i think it should be socially acceptable to not shave?

Socially generally women are expected to shave crotch, legs and armpits. Men are only expected to shave the beard but sometimes not and some women want a naked crotch. I think we should get rid of this. Most people get hair in the following places that they dont want buttcrack, crotch, legs, pits, face(depending. I have seen women shave legs and have huge gashes from it. Shaving the crotch or even waxing it is very dangerous since its a very sensitive area. I think it should just be socially acceptable to not shave anything aside from your face. Why are we going to risk injuring yourself for appearance? I mean yeah buy nice clothes and bath but should we really have to be shaving parts of the body most people dont see anyways?

There are a lot of things that should be socially acceptable but aren't. I kind of feel bad for woman since I think a lot of the social burdens fall on them. There a lot of social burdens on guys to, and I feel bad for guys to, but I think woman suffer the most of it though.

I think fewer people care about enforcing this social rule than you think. I've never met anyone who cares about how shaved someone else is unless they're having sex with them, which means 99.9% of people don't care about how shaved 99.9% of other people are.

Even if it was a big problem, the simple way to avoid the problem is by not conforming to the perceived rule. It really is that easy, and I firmly believe anyone can do it.

As a final point: have you considered that those women might want to be shaved for themselves, not because of social pressure, and believe the occasional cuts are worth it to keep themselves looking how they want?

    • I never said some people do not like shaving. However there is people who don't like shaving but do it because society demands they do. I not saying its bad if people want to but I don't think it should be a forced standard like it is.

I know what you're saying, I'm just disagreeing that anyone is really forced to do anything they feel strongly against. Maybe in other cultures to what I've experienced it's different.

        • Well you are forced. If a woman chooses not to shave her legs and wears shorts she will get laughed at. Its not like its a choice and people get looked down upon for it. Its like wearing deodorant. Its just what you do. Society has a basic set of social standard we all follow. Like saying excuse me if one farts or burps. Its something we all follow and its a type of unspoken rule. So yes we are made to follow it.

Have you actually seen a woman with unshaven legs being laughed at by adults? Laughed at?
They would have to be pretty shallow people, so who in their right mind would care what they thought?
I think it's you who have a greater problem; you worry way too much what other people think about you.
If you don't want to shave, there are no "fashion police" that are gonna hunt you down and force you to shave. I promise, society's basic set of social standards will not collapse all because you didn't shave your legs or pits.

            • When they are adults they kind of get they have to shave and look nice for work. You can not go to work generally in a T-shirt and jeans unless maybe you are a construction worker. So you are saying you dress like trash for work and they have not fired you yet? What job are you doing exactly?

            I don't wear deodorant, so... :P

Some people will look down on other people no matter what they do, and I'm not saying that is okay. I'm saying that the easiest way to change that is by doing what you want and letting criticism roll off your back, not that I think people should have to put up and shut up about criticism of their bodies.

            • It does not change the point that it is NOT socially acceptable. You kind of seem to be ignoring that fact. Simply ignoring the fact does not change that its still a fact. NO IT IS NOT SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE.

I think it should be socially acceptable for people to do and look however they want so long as they dont hurt anyone.

I've heard this expression before: "Beauty hurts". So people has to choose between stay beautiful, but injurying themselves shaving, or not to stay beautiful but keeping themselves safe without shaving. Anyways, I totally agree with your post.

This is probably not normal, but my girlfriend uses her crotch hair as a type of biological clock/calendar.

She shaves it completely smooth after her period. Then grows it out, up to a few days before it starts again. First she shaves it into a long Brazilian for a few days. And then a shorter Brazilian when she's using tampons.

Since I always know whereabouts she is on her cycle, I know when not to be an asshole. Plus her crotch is always changing in appearance and so it doesn't get boring to look at. Win win.

BTW I don't expect her to shave, she just does it.

I don't mind shaving. It makes me feel feminine. And clean.

haha: I'm guessing from your comment that you are a female (yes, these days there are guys who like to feel feminine, and though I'm a guy, I don't necessarily like to feel feminine). Assuming this is the case, I like the attitude, especially about being clean...I would much rather have a clean girl around me...especially if you're attractive...I have to admit that I am not "clean" regarding hair, though I try to be "kempt" and make myself look as presentable as possible...I'm not into a peeing pants fetish, and I actually get turned on when a girl wears spotlessly clean, white panties. Anyway, I'm glad you feel the way you do about yourself...bravo!!

It's not just for appearance - it's hygiene as well. Pubic hair traps all kinds of dirt and oils and stank.

I think crotches and armpits should be shaved in both sexes for hygiene, it's "moist" in those places, but not to the extreme like waxing! just keep it in check so it's hygienic!as for legs and chests that is purely aesthetic and thus a different argument alltogether

Why search through an entire forest for one measly banana?

    • If the banana is that small I dont think most women are willing to make the journey anyhow.

It would be nice, if it were like with haircuts, where it's more a matter of personal taste and choice.
