Basically if something happens or I'm just really depressed on a certain day I always end up smiling and bubbly and laughing all day when I'm with people. Why is this?

You may be the sad clown, it can be a coping mechanism.
I dont think its a good one though, It's not healthy to bottle your hurt away. You might shoot everyone at your work.
It's like a reflex. Your body is trying to make you feel normal as quickly as possible. It's a virtue!
I'm not sure whether to say this is normal (or more importantly, healthy) or not, because I think it depends on what's going on in your head when it's happening. If you do it to cheer yourself up, I think that can be a good thing. If you're just pretending to be happy, though, or you're just bottling up your negative feelings instead of dealing with them, then that's probably not very healthy.
Same here, I have a difficult time expressing sadness or anger around people.
It's really weird. But i'd say it's a way your mind finds to let the sadness go. Or at least, cover it. :3
I notice that when i am arguing with a family member and i head off to school soon afterwards, i really have the best days. I'm all social and happy and i can tell people enjoy my presence. It's been this way since middle school.
Don't know why, though. I figured it's because i release all those negative emotions before i start my day.... And maybe i want to hide the fact that i was crying.
It is not normal to feel happy and sad at the same time.
Happy and sad are polar opposites, 'implying a negative correlation between the experience of the two emotions'.
Meaning they cannot be felt together at the same time.
There is only one way in which they could, and that would be from a person suffering from bipolar disorder.
You can read more about the psychology and analysis of happy and sad at the same time here http://psychology.uchicago.edu/people/faculty/cacioppo/jtcreprints/lmc01.pdf
Further: Sometimes people may say they are having a 'bittersweet' moment. Where they feel pleasure and pain at the same time. Since the overall feeling would be pleasure this could mean they are feeling happy and not sad. Again not at the same time.
When I was younger I had a gf who would cry (seemingly sadly) if she laughed too much.
I explained to her (and this is going on 25years ago now) That she must be relating the 'tears' of joy to 'thinking' that she was upset. Instantly feeling the tears on her face made her upset. Thus she went from happy to sad. She was never happy and sad at the same time. Since this is not natural.
I notice that 'JustShoveIt' member above has been rewarded a couple of thumbs up referring to my intelligence. I then decided to disregard helping him in this.
But you 'lockets' I wanted to inform the truth.
It is impossible to feel happy and sad at the same time, unless you have a mental issue like bipolar disorder.
