Is it normal i take pride in being weird?

I realize that I'm weird. People tell me all the time. Even most the things I post on here are in the red and people seem to think "what the fuck". I've been diagnosed with several mental disorders by doctors and don't conform to societies standards either. At the same time I like the way I am. I wouldn't want to be even normal if I could. I notice most people try to hide weird things about them but I am proud to be a weirdo.

Don't be proud of not being weird, be proud of having good qualities. Character traits can be good or bad independent of whether they are normal or weird.

That's totally fine! Its not that I'm embarrassed that I'm weird(and I am weird) but sometimes I do things that are embarrassingly weird. That's what you should be ashamed of. Things that people look at you and go "dude, wtf?" not crazy random things but slapping someone in the face for no reason. I've done that before...

I agree with Anime7. They said what I was going to say.

I'll be really frank here, it feels to me that being weird has become synonymous with being cool. In a lot of social websites I always see a bunch of post and pictures that glorify being an outcast, as if everyone is just one stereotype, the nerd or the cheerleader. But not everyone is a stereotype, people aren't just one thing, just because you play sports doesn't mean you can't play yugioh with your friends. Even if people consider you weird, it doesn't mean that you don't play sports or do things that other people do. I don't know it just seems like people want to be special, and they'll say that they're weird in order convince people that they're special. I don't like it when people try to make themselves off as someone who's different from the rest in order to be cool and standout. By the way; I'm not accusing you of this, I'm just ranting.

I say this next bit with the thought that you didn't take what I just said as an attack on you; if you like who you are great. And that is seriously an awesome thing.

    • Outcasts glorify outcasts.

      Norms glorify norms.

You're bound to bump into propaganda in support of each side.

But what I am ranting about are norms who glorify outcasts. Just because you're into weird things doesn't make you special.

        • The inbetweens will eventually fall into one genuine side. You can't be fake for long.

Honestly that makes sense, you're probably right on that one. Although, I'm not sure if I'm underestimated people's ability to wear a mask for long periods of time.

            • I do agree with you that they do it, but yeah I've seen the type come and go.

And if it helps promote something different it's good, even if some doing it are fakes. The same thing happened in the early 90's, people gave alot of alt stuff a chance and we got some greatness from it. I'm sure there were many fakes in that crowd, but their support helped.

I totally agree with what your saying Anime7. People have this insatiable desire for recognition and attention. They try to find ways to separate themselves from everyone else so they can be seen as someone special and important.

Granted there are differences between people. No one is born exactly the same. But to those who go out of their way to be seen as someone extraordinary I say this:

You are unique... just like everyone else.
