Is it normal i stocked up on cat food for 2012 apocalypse scenario?

I don't have cats, I bought it for myself. I figured I could survive on it best for a few reasons.

1. If looters come, they won't bother stealing cat food.

2. It's not very tasty so I won't overeat thus it will last far longer.

3. It's very economical.

4. It doesn't need to be cooked, seasoned, reconstituted or even warmed up.

5. I can have seafood one night and beef or chicken the next.

6. It keeps well and needs no refrigeration.

7. It should keep my hair healthy.

8. I can use it to reign over all of the newly feral cats and use them to guard me and my home from intruders and also keep my place mouse and rat free. The cats can help me catch the vermin and we will share it for dinner, the fresh meat will be a treat. I can also collect the cat poop and use it as a weapon against looters and crazies.

I think this is very reasonable and a solid plan when all factors are considered.

    I can imagine you sitting in a corner rocking back and forth, surrounded by tins of Felix cat food or something, anticipating a non existent Apocalypse. "Cats like Felix like Felix...like Felix like Felix like Felix..."o_O.

    Maybe it is a good idea to be a copycat, though. They always land on their feet and all that sort of thing.

    Dog food has less fat, more protien, and better bang for the buck. Consider it.

    Plus you'll need dogs to run off all those annoying feral cats sooner or later.

    I'd use it as bait. Trap & eat the feral cats... they're great with soy sauce & Ramen noodles. Why wait till the apocalypse?

    You might get sick. I hear cat food has dead animal bones in it and other unhealthy things. Not really the type of thing to help in an apocalypse.

    Plus looters won't need to steal your food because they will likely resort to cannibalism

    I think this is an EXCELLENT idea, you can never be too safe- though we're stocking up on dog food, because you can get more in a packet, and it's cheaper... no trolling, i'm being serious.
    If the world end and we survive, we'll have food
    If nothing happens you could always feed stray cats/dogs, so no harm done, and it's not like you're hurting anyone by it.

    You probably COULD do this in a pinch, though I definitely wouldn't want to... nor would I stock the stuff, even though I have cats.

    Stock what you eat, eat what you stock.

    In the meanwhile, cat food is great for baiting all sorts of critters.
