Is it normal i sort of hear voices?

Is it normal that I sort of hear voices in my head? Don't panic it's not anything bad I hear like evil/violent, its more like if I am performing a certain task, I may hear like someone who would be likely to comment on this, example I perform a duty at work and if I feel I may not be doing it to the best of my ability or someone I work with would not think its the right way, it would be my bosses voice but it's like a thought in my head not an actual voice out loud... So yeah but somehow I know it's a certain person, I also sometimes seem to hear a persons voice in my head who I may wanna have a future convo with, and it's like me planning how the conversation would go maybe, I would hear the Persons response, then I would plan what I'm gonna say back, anyone else go through this or something similar?

      >:-D
That's funny I didn't even notice the mistake, and I usually notice that sort of thing, because I can be a smart-ass. I think your problem speaks to me in an emotional sense.
      ♡♡♡
... but a future combo makes me think of the drive thru at a fast food joint.
      ;-)

Sometimes the voices in my head fix my grammar mistakes before I say anything out loud. Yes, I do talk to myself inside my own mind, but at least I know I will always be in good company.

PLEASE OP, ignore these fuckwits who are telling you you may have schizophrenia. They're not doctors, they don't know you and they're just smartarse know nothings who don't think of the consequences of their alarmist bullshit.

I will be replying to them when I've calmed down, BUT IN THE MEANTIME, PLEASE IGNORE THEM. Don't let them scare you into believing you have a mental illness: if that's a worry for you seek out a REAL expert and not on IIN!

Maybe, I'm also mIld to medium OCD so it could have something to do with that. Like with the way I plan my response in my head when thinking of a future combo, that could be part of the organasition bit of it.

That kinda makes sense to me. I always hear words when I'm reading. Sometimes I hear my thoughts.

I agree with Snarkygirl, it is a definite sign of schizophrenia.
My understanding is that it is much more common (I think I once read something like 1 in every 20 may have even minor schizophrenia).

You cannot have a 'conversation' with the voices in your head OR allow the voices to bring up new ideas you have never thought of! They are ONLY your ideas and just YOU speaking to yourself, but since you stated this so easily as if its normal, then yes I'd definitely state strong case of schizophrenia.

It can be brought on by stress or drugs and is treatable.
Schizophrenia is not something to be proud of, it is a corruption in your mental state, and requires professional help.

Sometimes people DO think they hear things (like our name being called or other words that are likely accountable to any number of 'noises' or even if you are just so use to hearing the same thing over and over < These things are normal). But how you explained your issue does NOT seem normal to me.

Don't you realise the dangerous repurcussions of giving a superficial diagnosis of serious mental illness based on a brief IIN post or don't you care? You'd "definitely state strong case of schizophrenia" - what dangerous BULLSHIT.

You then backed up your ignorant and alarmist crap by implying you came to this conclusion because OP stated his concerns "so easily as if it's normal". Which "corruption" of your "mental state" gives you the grandiose idea that you can diagnose OP's mental illness partly on the evidence of her/his ability to express her/himself in writing?

And you "think" you "once read something" about statistics? That's a serious piece of research, congratulations: good basis for a PhD thesis... NOT.

I guess you'd diagnose me with schizophrenia too, because sometimes when I'm stressed & trying to do too much too quickly, I hear in my head the voice of a long dead friend telling me to slow down, exactly as she used to do in life. Mental conversations with oneself are just as likely to be a sign of mental health or attempts to regain it: for example Cognitive Behavior Therapy is based on the concept of countering negative thoughts with pre-planned positive ones, which is a form of talking to oneself mentally.

I strongly suggest you consider the possible effects of your words before you hit send: I'll bet not only OP but heaps of other vulnerable people reading your crap are now worrying that they too may have schizophrenia.

        Thank you for your advice.
I obviously meant it as 'in my (non PhD) opinion'
After re-reading, I should have also stated to seek professional advice, as my opinion could be totally wrong obviously.

Ellana, when the OP comes onto this forum and asks for an IIN answer to possible medical conditions, it is obviously a sensitive area BUT it does enable the responder to throw in their own thoughts on the matter.

All replies to such conditions, should be taken as a personal point of view and NOT a medical diagnosis! I suspect something to that effect would also be in the rules.

In saying that, for future posts I will state clearly (for sensitive areas such as this) that it is my personal opinion and therefore seek professional diagnosis.
The SAME could be said for others who actually state: "common and normal", who inadvertently ALSO misdiagnose a real issue. But I suspect you may not understand that, as I do.

That's entirely normal, as is rehearsing possible future conversations in one's head - not only normal, but common. I hope you're ignoring the scaremongers.

It was not a definite this is it, just an opinion.
I'll try to be more relaxed in submitting a 'strong' opinion without holding the credentials to allow this.
        Thanks for your reply.

It can be a sign of schizophrenia. That's what happens, your internal thoughts come across as voices. How old are you? Most times symptoms first present in late teens tp early twenties.

How stupid are you to even suggest the possibility of a serious mental illness to someone on the basis of a brief post on IIN?

Please, don't take any notice of idiots who think it's ok to suggest someone may have a serious mental illness on the basis of one brief IIN post - longer response to you below

27 and I had a brain scan at like 21/22 and it came back clean, no sign of physciosis, this was also happening back then, I feel it's relatively normal, doesn't really bother me, just interested to see if others experience it.
