Is it normal i scraped my illness out of my throat?

Long story short, I felt a "bug" coming on when my throat became itchy(assuming it was allergies). Looked down my throat using a mirror, saw some white looking stuff (let's be mature here), I then used a q-tip to clear it all out. It was a thick yellowish mucous. I immediately felt better. Is this normal?

Ok well I was gonna say something about the white stuff, but since you said be mature... :D

But seriously, where is your gag reflex? If you can stick a q-tip down your throat without hurling, I would seriously look into sword swallowing.

    • Lol :D, I was so focused on getting that crap out that I kind of ignored it. I did gag a few times, but I suppressed it long enough to clear all of it out :)

Lol :) but in all seriousness I think what you did was normal, at least in my personal experience. My friend back in middle school used to stick a fork down her throat when she got those allergy itches. I was always surprised she didn't choke.

i'm surprised you didn't irritate it more and cause an infection by doing that.

    • It was bizarre to say the least. It came right out and I didn't get sick or have any further symptoms.

Go see a doctor because it could indicate something more serious. Better safe than sorry.

    • It was just a one time thing. I think I'm okay.

It could be Tonsilloliths, also known as tonsil stones.

Sorry I can't be more of a help, but I really don't know. I recommend you go and see your doctor.

    • Nah, I'm very familiar with those. I got my tonsils taken out last summer partially due to recurring tonsil stones. This was some sort of thick mucous and it was in my throat.
