I used to do that but my contacts would get dried out by morning and stick to my eyeball! Then my eye doctor warned me that if I keep doing that, I could get scars on my eyes and it would be hard to see! So please just remove your lenses for sleeping and let them soak each night.

I wear my glasses now BECAUSE I am like you. I used to wear my bi-weeklys for months at a time, and the only time I would take them out is when they hurt, which I would just clean them and put em back in the next day..... The eye doctors told me that my eyes could not breath which resulted in the veins moving close to my iris to try and get more oxygen, I don't know what that is called or how it negatively effects me, but as much as I love my contacts and being able to see when I wake up in the morning, it isn't worth it =/

you def shouldn't sleep in them, I use to never take them out. but your eyes need oxygen and the less they get to breathe the more vessels grow, and it just gets worse from there. don't let it happen, start wearing your contacts less!

My ex boyfriend used to do that. I didn't even know he wore contacts until about 3 months into our relationship. He never ever takes them out.

DO NOT wear them more then 24 hours the iris won't get enough oxygen and the veins move closer to the surface of the eye. over time the clear part of the eye will try to grow around your contact to get oxygen. when it does the contact sinks slightly into the eye. removal at this point makes small tears in the iris. it can bleed and hurt and create scars inside the eye making it permanently harder to see.

yeah I did that. Still do when I don't wear glasses actually. If you don't take them out, the tiny blood vessels in your eyes will be so starved of oxygen they will get larger and more visible, and you will constantly have pink eyes like a stoner or someone with an infection. Fact.

you should take them out. they can fuse to your eye and tear your cornea. happened to one of my friends. i wear my bi-weekly contacts for a month but i take them out every night.

That's pretty gross, you should definately take them out. If you wear them because you've got bad eyesight, what's the point if it's just going to make your eyesight worse?

Unless you want to ruin the one set of eyeballs you will get your whole life, take them out to sleep. If it's such a chore to take the lenses out to clean them each day, either get daily disposables so you can just whip them out and throw them, or look into gas-permeable ones that you can leave in for a week to a month depending on the type. These allow oxygen to get to your eye surface so you don't need to remove them each day.

  • My eyes are aching just reading this poll.
My max time for wearing them is about eight hours, after that my eyeballs start to hurt.

Follow the manufacturers instructions, but I bet you'll have a little leeway even then because they probably want you to change them more often than necessary because they want you buy more = more profit for them.
