Words hurt in a way that physical violence can't, so it's understandable that you were upset by that, and she sounds like a bit of a bitch but you can't just punch your girlfriend in the face like that. You could have seriously hurt or even killed her, and her words (however horrible and malicious) were simply words - they can only hurt you as much as you let them.

If this is true, you should know that when it comes to gender society is a double-edged sword. A woman can hit and abuse a man, but society views it as being acceptable. However, if a man does it all hell breaks loose and so on.
