Is it normal i never pick up calls from my work?

They call me ALL the time to work in extra shifts and things like that. And I almost NEVER pick up. First I HATE my job (security guard). Second they call me at the worst times to show up. At a post where you don't even know where it is, to show up in 1hour when the company expects employees to call 4HOURS in advance when they cant show up. (LIKE EMERGENCIES DON'T HAPPEN,TALK ABOUT UNFAIR) all for 7.25 an hour AND ON MY DAY OFF...Dont get me wrong I work my 40 hours. But being called out of the blue to work a 8 to 12 hour shift...No thanks. Anything important they can say to my face... Im sorry if I sound selfish or Lazy. I just need my me time to relax and recharge after dealing with RUDE cunts & Scum bags for a whole week. Can some one understand where I'm coming from is this normal

  • I feel the same way about on-call. I refuse to do anything on-call.

Sure. If it's your personal time and you're not contractually required to pick up their calls while not working, you could just as well turn your phone off when you leave work and only put it back on for the next job.

Personally, I'd use Google Voice to automatically block their calls on off days.

Let me get this straight. The guy who investigated my breach into the women's WC and chased me on foot all the way out of the mall parking lot only makes $7.25 an hour?

I think it is normal that you feel that way. I have been called in at my job a couple of times, but for me the circumstances are much different and I don't usually mind. I might be a little reluctant, but I like the extra pay though. I am selfish like that... Lol.

By the way, is this Neuro?

Oh, never mind. Neuro is a user here. I thought this might have been her poll for a second because I remembered she has a job as a security guard.
