Is it normal i'm trying to talk myself out of a crush?

My friend has liked another one of our friends for a while. He's always teased the rest of the girls in our group so I thought nothing of it when he did it to me. One day we went to the mall with smaller group of people and out of nowhere I started to like him in that way. I'm trying to talk myself out of it because I don't want to hurt my friend and I really have no chance with him. Is it normal to do this? I usually use pretty nasty insults to beat the feelings down.

  • I wasn't clear, sorry. In certain situations I'll do something awkward or embarrassing and think to myself, "See? That's why it wouldn't work." or have those moments where I ask myself if anyone would want me when another girl, who I am positive he likes, is much prettier and nicer.
