Is it normal i'm terrified of getting a kidney stone?
The title pretty much says it all. I've read some rather nasty accounts of passing kidney stones, and have heard new mothers say that it's worse than childbirth. Is it normal/what can I do?

"...Prevention is most simply achieved by sufficient intake of fluids." - That's what it says in my textbook.
In most cases if you drink enough, you shouldn't get them.
Bad things inevitably happen to all people and you cannot pick your poison. I once thought I was truly going to die when I was in pain from passing a clot of blood through my urinary tract...horrible. But I didn't. Pain happens, you get through it. That pain has made me a stronger person. You can't let fear control your life. This is an anxiety issue, try some wellbutrin, it has worked well for me in controlling physical problems associated with anxiety as well as making me a much calmer person (nice dreams also). Cheer up, you will probably get something else before you get a kidney stone. It's part of life, now get out there and live it.
I heard they come out of men's penisis I'm scared I only drink water just water 1 soda a year I don't want a stone to come out my penis
I would be terrified of getting one of those too. but just like everyone says, drink plenty of water.
I would hate to get any sort of body ailment, because knowing how I am, I wouldn't get any surgery.
Its true .. water.. ample amounts. If you keep your waterworks department going on a regular basis kidney stones are kind of out of the question. There are things that can agrravate kidney stones (we can all get them) but if your fluid intake is "up" the probabilities of acquiring a kidney stone situation is low.
It's not as bad as it used to be because there are non-invasive ways of breaking them up but it's still apparently pretty unpleasant.
Avoiding them is roughly the same as avoiding gout. There are many types of kidney stone but general advice would be: don't drink alcohol, avoid red meat, crustaceans, cola, grapefruit juice, drink lots of water, and cut down on your salt.
I'm an occasional gout sufferer and it is definitely diet related with me. Being a vegetarian (who loves water and can't take caffeine) helps, but I do like grapefruit juice very much and I'm never going to cut out alcohol and prawns from my life.
