Is it normal i'm still feeling guilty about minor damage?

A couple of days ago while very stressed from being stalked, I scraped someone's car with mine while trying to park in a shopping centre, fortunately not my local but not very far away.

When I got out to check the other car it already had a number of scratches and dents much worse than the tiny scratch I'd made, but someone was watching me so I wrote a note and put it under the other car's windscreen wiper.

BUT I put a fake mobile number and now I feel really guilty, even though the other car had lots of other minor damage the owner hadn't bothered to repair.

The fact that every car I've ever owned except for the old long gone 4WD with the bullbars was scratched or worse by people who drove off & didn't leave a note is not helping me to stop feeling guilty.

Is this pathetic or what?

Was it the Hummer you hit in the other story?

No, it was a boring 4 cylinder silver sedan similar to my own. We don't see too many hummers where I live, in fact I've only ever seen 2 or 3.

I FUCKED someones car up once when backing out of a parking space at night during the winter about 10 years ago. I got out and looked at the damage and their rear was all dented to shit. I pretended I was writing a note and then drove out of there. Fuck that shit. There was this other night that I blacked out and ran through my neighbor's fence and did thousands of dollars in damage to this nice sports car they had. I lived with my parents at the time and they were not happy with me.

It's good that you feel guilty at least. I did a similar thing once. Felt pretty bad about it. Still do.

Well actually it took so long for my post to be moderated (maybe the controversial subject matter??!) that I've almost forgotten about it now! Feeling guilty is only a positive thing if it leads to rectifying or apologising for what's making one guilty and I can't do either so I guess I'll just live with it as the memory fades. I guess at least if I ever do the same thing again I'll remember to do the right thing rather than something I'll feel guilty about later.

How long have you been feeling guilty about what you did and what exactly was it?

Basically it was like 90% similar to what you did. It happened like a year and a half ago, so I've mostly forgotten, but every now and then I think about it and feel bad. I just try to remember that if it happens again, I should leave a number and such.

Yeah, me too, as I would wish someone who scraped my car to do, not that anyone ever has
