Is it normal i'm so exhausted?

I'm so exhausted, you guys. I've been moving fucking stands and bookshelves around all day. I can't even think how I should right now. But this isn't about me and complaining how tired I am - I'm so tired and exhausted, that right now the fatigue is making me depressed. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I'm sitting here literally wanting to cry and die of how tired I am. Why is this happening? Can physical major fatigue and exhaustion give you depression?

A scientific explanation would be nice.

Scientifically, I think it has something to do with lack of glucose sugar in your bloodstream, which is what keeps you more energetic, and in turn, happier. Eating and getting a good night rest will probably help.

Also, the longer you stay awake, the more stressed you get because you haven't gotten the necessary REM sleep that you need... I think.

  • I dont have a scientific explanation... But take a week off, or two just get a sick line from yoor doctors for depression & see how that helps, good luck (: x

I was working 112 hours a week putting roofs on houses. This obviously leaves very little time for sleep, so I was going without! I became so depressed after a few weeks that I didn't talk to anybody apart from work, even damaging relationships with family and friends!!!

Yes exhaustion can cause depression because of the brain chemicals your body uses, and the ones you don't get when you are exhausted. In extreme form exhaustion can even cause halucinations, schizophrenia, paranoia, and a lot of other really nasty things! (obviously this is the most extreme cases)

Happened to me the first month of a full-time job I had; I wasn't eating well, trying to adjust to the commute, the routine, the cold (I couldn't afford a coat until 1st wages and it was snowing, only had a thin jumper). I was getting up at 6am, getting home at 8pm.

I was so tired from it I did find myself getting pretty depressed at times.

I think the best thing is to get off the internet and sleep it off. Eat well, sleep well, you should wake up better.

I was a shift worker at a physically demanding job and it ended up running me into the ground. I tried everything to sustain that job because it was well paid but it totally destroyed me and leaving it was the best life decision I've ever made. All im saying is if this feeling is common to you then may be worth looking at your life and making major changes for your own health well being and happiness.

I work a hard labor job as well, and occasionally feel the same way you do. I have found that A) getting a good night sleep and B) Forcing yourself to eat healthy, at least for a few days REALLY helps.

Lack of sleep can be used as physical torture in order to 'break' people.

I have never hurt anyone in my life but I swear to you, after I had my baby who never slept, I was going to go to the police station to admit local bombings so they would put me in a cell and I could get a night's sleep. I didn't know if I was going to vomit or faint as I was so tired! My husband stopped me heading out and took over for the night. Later I woke up with him slapping me round the face. He said he had been trying to waken me for at least 10 minutes and because I had a blood clot, he thought I was dead!

To this day, I don't know how I managed NOT to murder my son!! Depressed??!!! Suicidal and murderous!!

Scientifically, I'd say the brain is deprived of oxygen and you've expended all your energy and so are low in sugar. Anyhow, it's only been one day so you should recover after a good night's sleep :o)

Actually yes exhaustion can give you depression. I think that this is one of those situations where a good nights rest and a day of relaxation can fix you up. By the way the picture is pretty funny.
