Is it normal i'm racist towards immigrants?

In Australia at the moment, the jobs market is drying up rapidly. I'm 21, a skilled welder, storeman, forklift operator and overall metal trades-wise very skilled. But no employer wants to know about me. One employer told me straight-up that he employs Asians and Indians because:
1: They're cheaper and don't know they're work rights, and
2: Because of they have an accident, OH&S wont care and WorkCover will care even less.

In light of this, I let out an explosive rant of Facebook, which since I've deleted my account, about how immigrants are being used to steal our jobs and keep skilled people like me on the dole, soon we'll have to work for anyway. I can't help but feel racist and discriminative against foreigners because of this? Is this normal? or am I a racist pessimistic SOB?

God damn it I wanted to edit not delete. Well anyway I know a lot of people who feel like that about the Mexicans in the US. I understand your anger but is it really the immigrants fault? They are just trying to make a living and if the employers want to be cheap then they hire immigrants because they will work longer hours for less pay. Its easy to hate the people you feel stole your job but is it necessary hatred?

I live in Australia. I'm a nanny. Therefore, my job could easily be given to a student or traveller from somewhere else because then they'd only have to give them room and board and under $200 a week for live in care. I get paid considerably more for less work. In spite of that, I have never been unemployed in the last 11 years. Because I'm good at my job and my education and experience is worth the extra money.

This was one shitty emplyer you've dealt with. One. And you're going to blame a group of people who did absolutely nothing to you?

I bet you voted for Abbott...

I got a $300 fine for not voting, as there was no point. Both sides have no brains or policies to bring to the table. And it wasn't just one employer, it was many. Did you go to some snooty-nosed uppity class School in Canberra or Sydney? I had to suffer the expense of the public system. I've been bullied, bashed and kicked in the guts by employers and a deadbeat government who thinks cheaper labour is the way to a surplus budget. So NO I DID NOT VOTE FOR THE HOMOPHOBIC PRICK AT THE HELM OF THE SHIP. I PAID $300 FOR NOT VOTING!!

Your username says it all, dickhead.

And no, I went to a public school, fuckface. And didnt graduate from uni.

I'd have sympathy but you clearly expect the world to revolve around you. Your reaction shows the problem lies with you and your anger issues.

Not voting is a $20 fine. I know from experience. It only inflates if you're a dumbfuck amd don't pay.

Why vote for kids who can't make up minds? And you're not sounding any different from me. Someone ELSE has got an issue or two. Self-righteous prick. I bet YOU voted for Abbott. My username DOES reflect I'm a dickhead, because that's what I moulded myself into after years of bullying and beatings from...shock horror...Kiwi students who thought they were tough shit. Try spending 3 years on Valium and other kinds of PBS meds that are more addictive and dangerous than heroin and ice put together. I know the world doesn't revolve around me, but you're sense of superiority must be drawing Mars closer to the earth. You're ego's the size of the Moon.

Seeing as you're the self-righteous doctor, got any remedies? (Rhetorical Question for your oxygen thieving brain and wasted breath so you don't answer it).

You had a point....righto. Bear in mind it's my OPINION not scripture, as you seem to be taking it. You're proving a point of mine that is in society today, no-one can express their view with a barrage of outrage. Classic whinger. I know I whinge, it's my profession. I can accept that. But what you're not doing is reading between the lines, and doing what most of our generation do, and take it at face value. At least I sought help for my issues. And I've had good luck with my party, thanks for the compliment!

Here in the states, it is not so different.

Many of the jobs here that immigrants take are un-skilled or low-skilled jobs and they are hired over citizens for the same reasons. They will work like dogs, work overtime sans-overtime pay and allow their co-workers and employers to treat them like shit. They will accept low pay because they feel that it is normal, the standard, or just because it is better than what they got in their home country.

The problem is that it shuns a lot of young people, who typically don't have skills as they are just starting out in life, who are usually students, out of the job market. Many of these young people have limitations that the immigrants don't: school schedules, studying, social lives, etc.

It is easier for the employer to hire the immigrants rather than to build a workforce in their workplace where it requires some amount of effort to work around employee limitations.

For this, I blame the employers, not the immigrants.

BUT, I do not have any hard feelings toward you for directing your anger at immigrants. It is understandable, especially so when you wonder about their home countries. We put a lot of effort into building an economy and industry in our country, why can't/won't you fight the hard fight we did instead of coming over and enjoying the benefits that our citizens have fought in the past to achieve and work hard in the present to maintain?

Despite this, I still blame the employers.

Really??? I think that in the case of the USA it is debatable.

And all it took for your public racist rant was one person's opinion?

I think you have a legitimate reason to be frustrated and want to blame someone.

But direct your anger towards the employers choosing cheap, ignorant labourers over you to save money, not the immigrants themselves.

It is compltely normal to be a racist. Everyone is a racist in my opinion, we'd all want to stick with our own race. It's like teams; there's nothing wrong with not liking another team. I'm a National Socialist; what most people call a "Nazi". We believe in keeping our race, heritage, culture (in this case Nordic, it doesn't matter the race anybody can be a NatSoc) pure and putting our people first than other people. We think every race should be able to support themselves (e.g. Africa would be a barren wasteland if it weren't for the rest of the world), tax money should go to the people and not the government for useless wars, and other things like that. People think we're crazy hillbilly bigots when in reality it's nothing like that except for prison gangs giving us a bad reputation. We do not support racemixing due to the fact that a mixed person will not be accepted among either race, will be picked on, etc and their genetics will be bad. Take pride in your own culture and race, put your people first, protect them, secure them, THEN worry about other races. So yeah it's completely normal.

Ironically, I'm the son of Irish immigrants, and I rightly am ashamed of my racism. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar and Asperger's only recently, and I'm still coming to terms with it. There are just some days where it feels like the immigrants from less-developed countries have come here for the benefits (not just work benefits, but government handouts). Now our country is (according to politicians who act like a class of 13 year olds), circling the drain financially. I just get frustrated that employers have either been forced to do this because employing skilled workers will cost too much, or they do it deliberately to save money to stave off liquidation.

Wasn't one done with extreme violence? I believe one of those groups just move in while the other takes it by force. I can see why they would call it genocide vs cultural enrichment.

It's not really your job now is it?
The job is for whoever will do it for the best price.

Welcome to capitalism, the greatest trick the rich ever played.

Don't rage against your fellow lowly human.
Rage against the elite and those who wield power.

Who runs the markets? Controls the prices? Makes the deals? It's no Mr Patel who is trying to do what you are doing is it?

Awake from your slumber. A race war is what they want. You will remain a slave.
Do not go quietly into the night but rage, rage, rage . . .

I understand your anger, because it's similar here in the US but to be honest I think you should hate the actual OH&S committee since they're the ones that really promote this behavior of exploiting workers. The employers are also at fault here as well. The immigrants simply want a living and to provide a better future for their children. Don't hate them, hate the people who exploit them.
