Is it normal i'm disappointed by the looks of the real criminals?

Whenever I watch a true crime show I'm always so disappointed in how ugly the perpetrators end up being! I enjoy the reenactments and the crime sounds interesting but then at the end they show the ugly, fat mugs who actually committed the crime and it ruins the whole thing for me. IIN?

That is really shallow, you know. Why is it always about the looks? These people have dedicated their lifes to crime. Show a little respect and appreciation.

Ain't it weird though how crooks always look like crooks, paedophiles always look like paedophiles, murderers always look like murderers? I could go on. I won't.

Actually, the ones that don't look like Hollywood criminals are the dangerous ones.
It happens often that after a horrible crime, the neighbours report that they would never have guessed that the suspect could be a criminal.
We tend to ostracize some people because they look "evil", forcing everybody to look "good". But everyone loses, because the actual criminals are the ones that put the most effort to "look innocent".

Okay, so it's kind of an alternate spelling of Johnathan then. That makes more sense to me now.

They should have a special with only attractive criminals. Kind of like that hottest sex offenders thing that pissed people off so much. It's not like there's any shortage of crime, *some* of them must look good.

Please note that I was drunk when I said this so my judgement was hindered. In case you DO get offended, I blame the liquor.

So I was having drinks at this gay bar and I had had enough to render myself drunk. In my drunkenness, I had told the bartender "OMG, one thing I noticed about California... the people here are SOOOO much better looking! I'm not... I'm not saying that people where I am from (NC) are ugly, but in general... you know?".

The guy proceeded to tell me that he was from out of state as well and that he noticed this. He said he believes it is due to the weather, the weather here is nice! Good weather makes people happy! There are things to do and people can go out and do them! People in California are more active because of that! (Our obesity rate is 30% lower than the national average!) Not as many miserable people here, happy people tend to look better than people who are perpetually miserable. They go out and do more. This is what he told me.

So it makes me think with this post, that, considering mentality affects many aspects of one's health, it makes sense that it could affect one's looks too. I know I have seen studies regarding one's physical appearance in regards to one's health and one's health in correlation to one's mentality (optimists experience greater health and vitality than pessimists).

To me, the connection makes sense. Criminals typically have rough lives, are likely to be miserable... connect the dots if you will.

    • What you say has some merit, however overall the stories I am talking about don't involve lifelong bottom-feeder criminal scumbags (but hey, many of those guys are SMOKIN' hot!). I'm talking about the extraordinary crimes, the complicated, the high-profile, the interesting stuff. The ones that are cool enough to make a show about! Sometimes the crime sounds incredibly "sexy" and you'd think the people involved would be sexy too but they're dogs! Like Bonnie and Clyde....interesting crime, sounds sexy, but they're not lookers by any stretch! In the movies/shows they make them ultra-sexy though.

Depends on how u look at it. Look at cold climates and ugly people. Massachusetts has some of the ugliest people in existence as do Wisconsin and MINNessota. But Montana doesn't have the the same degree if ugly but is very cold. Now, look at Texas, very ugly people indeed, but it has very warm areas. Or look at Quebec vs Ontario. Both are cold, but Quebec doesn't harbor the same degree of ugly as Ontario.

Sounds like a great subject for a PHD. Degree of ugliness vs climate.
You'd need some fairly strict controls because there is also the beer goggles factor. what is god dam drop dead gorgeous and immediately fuckable on Saturday night is chew your arm off to slip away without waking her on Sunday morning but ugly.

Well, the television show wouldn't be very good if you had to sit and watch someone ugly through the whole thing now would it?

I can understand where you're coming from. When I saw katana girl in the Walking Dead I was very disappointed because she was, personally speaking, not very attractive, but I thought her character was cool but still.

No, the character wore a cloak for the first couple of times they showed her. She was really badass because she had two zombies as pets and used a sword. But when she took off her cloak I was expecting a really hot girl, she was just not attractive and it was sort of disappointing.

I really wanted to what that show, only caught a few episodes.
Hot chicks are usually followed by a couple zombies. The hot chick never turns out to be what they appear.

Most characters in the show are alright. There's really only one hot girl and she doesn't show up to the second season.
