Is it normal i'm black and i listen to...

I'm black and I love "white people" music. People think I'm weird just because I hate rap and hip-hop music.

I like Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, 1D, etc. And all the ignorant kids at school say I'm weird or a white girl trapped in a black girl's body because of it.

So I'm wondering, am I the only one this happens to? IIN?

Maroon 5, Blue October, Black Sabbath, Yellow Submarine, P!nk, the white album… music has lots of colour. ^__~

That's the deepest thing I've heard in regards to this.

Mind if I use this the next time someone says I'm "white" ? lol

As a black person, when I was in high school, my peers used to give me Hell for not liking rap music, but of course, enjoying all other forms of music. Don't worry about it. Stereotypes are a bitch! You like what you like, and that's all that matters.

Like what you want. If you want to like Chinese opera, that's okay. It's horrible that people all want us to be alike each other. They're threatened by what's different.

you are totally normal. The people that say you have a problem have a problem. There.s nothing wrong with you at all,and it does not make you white, infact it makes you more black than them,as they need to keep reminding themselves they are black by listening only to black music. How sad is that? !

That's normal and people should be wiser to know that skin colour doesn't determine preferences and tastes. I'm black too and I love Avril Lavigne and the Cranberries

Liking any music is okay, well as long as you're not one of the crazy fangirls who made Zayn Malik delete his Twitter. I never got into 1D but that was crazy...he was seen w/ a girl and the "fans" flipped out lol

Anyway, if white people listen to "black people music" why not the other way around? I'm white and I have a black friend who likes a lot of the same music as me :)

It doesn't matter if it's normal or not. You like what you like, and that is just fine. Rebel societies expectations :)

Nat King Cole. Darius Rucker. That's just off the top of my head scratching the surface. Black musicians have lead, defined and developed every aspect of American music in every genre.

Yeah but lil wayne, 2 chainz, wizard khalifa, etc. fucked up the meaning of music in general.

Well I have no idea who these people are - could you explain that to me.? But when it comes to "blacks" in modern 20th Century music, well they with their other musical peers just own it. Period.
