Is it normal i'm able to close my nasal passage?

Ever since I was in elementary school I've been able to do this weird thing with my nasal passage and have been doing it ever since. I'm not sure how it's possible but I'm able to close my nasal passage without having to cover my nose or anything. I'll admit it comes in handy when walking into a public bathroom that smells really bad, or taking out the garbage, and other stuff but it's just weird, IMHO. So lately I've been wondering if anyone else can do this or what other peoples thoughts might be on it, as well as if it's at all normal.

    Do you mean just breathing through your mouth only? without having to smell anything? I do that in smelltown
