Is it normal i hear birds chirping in my head?

When I'm lying in bed at night trying to get to sleep, I hear birds of all different varieties chirping in my head. I live in the middle of dense suburbia and I am sure the noises aren't from surrounding birds. I asked my housemate about it and he does not hear any at night. I fear I might be going crazy.

For the last year or so I get the same but only for a while after I wake up from a deep sleep or afternoon nap in the chair (Im 67). It seems to come from the top right hand side of my brain. If I wake suddenly from a stressful dream I get the sound of what sounds like a continuous fire alarm bell for a while. But it is muffled and not loud and from the left hand side of my brain.

Most likely tinnitus. Can also result from to much aspirin. Or you could just be nuts like me! Good luck.

It's quite possible that you may very well be insane but at least you're hearing something nice.

That's a sign of depression. Doesn't mean you're crazy, but you might consult a therapist.

Oh yes, consult a therapist for every little thing that happens, it doesn't matter if it happens to everyone (everyone hallucinates as they fall asleep), so that you can be charged 300$ an hour to talk to someone who is just staring off into space ignoring you, and who then refers you to a psychiatrist so you can take 10 mg of Prozac (or hundreds of mg for pharmacuetical Methampthetimine if you're a kindergartener with a developing brain and a mother who is too busy watching Oprah and talking shit about woman who feed their baby forula on Urbanbaby.com to actually play with her child.)

I dono, but I've had a similar problem of hearing morse code in my head. People think its just beeping noises or that I'm crazy but I actually hear the series of rhythmic "dits and dahs" same as they've sounded on the radio before, no radio on though, it originated inside my ears. Wish i knew morse code... But i haven't heard that in awhile.anyway Maybe something similar with the birds, I've read it can be related to tinnitus or something
