Is it normal i have vivid dreams then half wake up unable to move?

This happens to me quite often, it stopped for a while but it seems to have started again. What will happen is i will be having an extremely vivid dream where i am completely aware that i am dreaming, it's usually in familiar places but different (if that makes sense) and i have complete control walking around and opening doors and touching things, it's quite fun and enjoyable. However sometimes i will wake up but not completely, i can feel my eyes open and can see in my bedroom but i can't move it's like my whole body is spasming or like all my muscles are extremely tight. Somtimes it feels like im shaking quite fast but i can't be sure and my eyes don't open completely but just enough to see my surroundings. I find it difficult to get out of it. It can be quite scary because sometimes i can hear things like people talking very loudly or random music playing and sometimes static but i know i'm not really hearing it, it's like im half in a dream half awake kind of stuck in between. It's very strange and it's fine sometimes but once i snap out of it my muscles ache and i feel quite anxious. Has anyone else had anything similar happen to them? Or know what it is?

I think it's called sleep paralysis, nothing serious. I used to get it when experiencing falling dreams and it really used to freak me out. It's interesting that you're almost able to open your eyes when you get it. I wasn't able to move a muscle.

Truth_Teller I don't get these weird astral projections happen to me anymore, they seemed to have come to a stop these last few years. freak419 - It's terrifying isn't it? Hope it doesn't happen to you now and certainly not any worse than it did

Over the most part of this year it's got slightly out of hand - it's never fun, it's always horrible, i see horrible things and it's just generally a lot more aggressive than before or something. I went to the doctors and ive had some councelling. The doctors tried to give me anti-depressents but i declined because they just give them out to anyone for anything these days, im a lot happier talking to a professional about it to try and fix it rather than covering it up by popping pills lol. But yeah....it's pretty horrific now, i have no idea why it turned completely bad, where before i was starting to be more calm with it and have fun with it, and it just turned nasty on me and happens a lot more now. I guess i just have to bare it and hope it will dissapear. I've got to not let it get to me too much though or let it affect my day to day life because i can't afford to lose my job or fail college. Good times eh....

i agree with kinx astral projection is a factor if you really think of it vivid like its real and then in your body just as suddenly whil unable to completely control your body

Thankyou for all your comments. I haven't been on my laptop for a while so took me ages to see all these comments. Im sure im totally a believer in astral projection, or i wasn't at least...but i am open minded and i will look into it and find out more about it. It happened to me this morning, i slept quite late. i kept lucid dreaming, those vivid dreams where i have control and im aware im dreaming, i was in some kind of theme park with rollercoasters and stuff and felt like i was flying, it sounds ridiculous lol. It was so fun though. But then i kinda snapped out of it and the spasiming thing happened again and it was really a lot more distressing this time, i couldn't get out of it and at one point it felt like my arms were going to break. If it happens again i will deffinitely try and stay calm and try what you said 'Truth_teller' thanks again everyone

I am surprised! You are at the last step of astral projecting and your soul or astral body has not yet come back into your real body yet. You hear the noises because you are in the middle of the astral body and the physical body. You should stay calm when that is happening and say in your head "return to my physical body" and you will literally snap back into your body and be able to move again, you can also think " tune out the noises" when you hear the weird sounds and they will stop instantly. I hope this helps and tell me how it worked.

Sometimes if you cannot move physically, pretend you can move with telekinesis. That is often the first step to achieving astral projection.

Yes I get that, your are lucid dreaming and possibly astral projecting which some people actually try to achieve. It just happens to me and I hear voices in that state you are talking about and yes it can be freaky!! But I have that too. Sometimes the dreams are so vivid that that in itself scares me and I don't know why.
