Is it normal i have super hearing??

ok this has always seemed crazy to me. but I have been talking about my problens and weird experinences to my brother and he seems to have the exact same problem as me.

Ever since I was a small child I have noticed that I have extreem difficoulty talking to people because they don't seem to understand\hear me. ofthen I would say something and unless I'm direcly infront of them they would ask me to repete, or if I call them from another room they never seem to hear. i used to be convinced when I was small that my parents both had hearing problems, or that they where doing it on purpose to punish me for something because I hated being ignored.
I have also noticed that where ever i am in my house i can hear what's going on, what people are saing, my mom cooking, people walking around ( also live in quite a large house with brick walls so "the other side of the house" can be quite far). so much so that my parents allways complained that I eavesdrop, but in reality it's just that they feel like they are talking to me.
also when I am in class I used to allwais conplain that it was too noisy and that i couldnt understand the teacher. or if there is somethin like music goind on in the back ground even if it's not loud. i can't understand some one talking to me, it's a bit like I can't seem to differenciate the two sounds because they are both so loud.
it tends to realy annoy me because it causes me to snap at people and say things like " how the hell didn't you hear that!" wich allways makes me feel bad. and I allways feel like i have to talk louder to people (incidently not to my brother).
I also keep the volume of my ipod much lower that everybody else, If you have an ipod set the sound to a bit less than half way.. thats how I listen to it.
since I have been clubbing a cupple of times it's got a little bit better, (it used to be terrible when i was a child) like as if i used to have better hearind that every one else, so it caused me all theis problems, and now the night clubs have deafened me a little bit and my hearing is a bit closer to a normal persons, so less problems ( even thow to me this seems like the worst solution to my problems).
it seem unlikely to me but is it possible i just hear things much louder than other people? or could it be something else?

  • You only hear through one set of ears your whole life.

You have no basis for comparison of how good your hearing really is.

If you speak as bad as you write, it's quite understandable that other people wouldn't understand you.

Volume up halfway on an iPod!
I guess Apple products must really suck at outputting sound because I usually have my volume on minimum for every device I own.

As for not being able to pick out what people say when there's background noise:
Unless the music or background noise is louder than the person is speaking, then the problem lies with your brain and not your ears.
If the background noise is louder than the conversation, then everyone will have trouble hearing the conversation, not just you.

Also, How is having good hearing a bad thing?
I personally avoid loud environments like clubs to avoid hearing damage.

    • maybe I did not explain well, my volume on my headphones are well below halfway on my Ipod and I don't use apple headphones because they break.

as for not being able to pick up what people say when their is back ground noise:
of course I'm talking about then the background noise is well below the people talking to me.
I can't seem to differentiate the sound and the voice becomes difficult to understand. no matter how big the difference of volume between two sounds is I hear it the same.
hearing good or better is a problem for me because I can't hear what normal people hear wich is what should matter to a human not a pencil dropping in the other room I don't need that, and it makes conversation hard for me.

the people hearing me badly I have confronted with my friends and they say that i talk a bit too quietly for them and my accent is odd. I keep a low voice because i can hear myself better, while if i rase my voice it gust muffles with everything else witch is very frustrating.

haha if my wrighting or spelling is bad it's probably because I speak multiple languages and english is not my favorite.

I'll just go sit in the corner and continue to not understand your way of thinking.

It's probably just because your ears can filter much more sound which is more important to you.
