Is it normal i have a preference for run down, overgrown places?

I find a yard with overgrown grass, weeds, and bushes to look nicer and be more cozy. Chipped paint, a few moss covered stones, and don't forget the ivy on the walls outside, and you've got a beautiful house.

I much prefer things a little run down, a little distressed.

Is this normal?

There are a lot of old places like that down in the Deep South.

Maybe it's because the most interesting people live in those kinds of places?

You can pretty much count on someone living like that not to be superficial at least. Unless they're meticulously maintaining the perfect balance of kept-up vs. run-down, going out every week or so to chip some paint off their siding and popping the heads off a few dandelions.

With the right techniques, you can make new stuff look old.

Sure, don't see anything weird about a preference about plants..
