Is it normal i hate my driver license picture!!!

I just took the driver license picture and the minute I saw it, I knew I screw up for life!! I wanna change it!! I didnt have any make up on or anything! I just took it and now I regret it so much! I passed the driver license test so they said thats the one that'll stick for life!!! Does anyone else feel that way about their picture? Do you feel their should be a second chance for the picture? Do you have a story of your own about your picture? Please Comment about it.

On my first licence, they took a shitty picture of me.
On my second one, the used the ID photo I gave them.

I don't have a drivers license but I have a "student I.D". I'm not fond of the photo. It was taken awhile before I got my hair cut and I looked "moody". The one I had taken before it had received a bad response from the guy and my family that I was on the verge of tears. I let bit out and my mother told me that I could cry there and if I did that everyone would look at me and say that I was crazy. The one I had before that was a "Ident-a-kid" one. I had gotten it at my camp which was at a government building. I had sustained a forehead injury before that at the camp and as a result I had to wear a bandaid. I remember there were police officers there and the lady taking the photo asked what happened and my family was upset and kept trying to "justify" the situation.

    Ugh.

I don't think they were telling you the truth that it would be permanent. You can get it changed.

I was wearing a lot of makeup but you can't even tell in the picture. I don't like my picture but everyone else tells me I look fine or even good in it... I think they are just trying to make me feel better :P Anyways here you get a new picture every 3 - 5 years. Hopefully my next one is better haha

Somewhat related note, they told me NOT to smile? WTF? Is it like that everywhere? I think it is the main reason my photo is so awful

Thats stupid!?! Why not smile!? Thanks that makes me feel better. Now that I know I have another chance, I'll make sure I'm prepared for the next one.

Once my license picture was so bad that I got denied and almost got the cops called on me when I was trying to buy cigarettes in a gas station. They looked at the ID, looked at me, and said 'I don't believe this is is you', then they have a whole clerk conference behind the counter, passing my ID around looking back and forth at me and the ID, they told me to leave or they were calling the cops.

Fucked up thing was, I was wearing the same damn shirt as I was wearing in the ID. Well, one of them....it was a flannel shirt I was wearing over a wifebeater.

I knew the picture was bad, and I hated it, but I figured I couldn't do anything about it until that happened, then I went straight to the DMV and told them about it and they let me take a new picture. Not for free, though, of course.

When I moved to a different state, they actually let you look at the picture and approve it first!! That was so cool!! It was one of those states where they print out your license right then and there too, also cool. But here in NY, they don't do that, hell no. It's a gamble, then you have to wait a few weeks to get your license in the mail and either be pleasantly suprised, meh, or OMG WTF??.

I'm sorry I dont want to be mean but that made me laugh so~ much. Going to DMV where you get DL immediately sounds awesome, much better than waiting and agonizing over it coming in the mail.

Oh don't apologize for laughing, it was funny to me too!! Even if the cops came and harassed me it still would've been one of my many funny off-beat adventures that I seem to have so many of. I laugh about it myself.

Another funny thing about that license....I happened to leave my purse at this guy's house that I was head over heels for, and it had THAT license in it. I was mortified to think he'd look in there to see whose purse it was or just being curious, and see that pic. I don't know if he did or not, if he did he never said anything, but that's a pretty fucked up most predominant fear to have when you lose your purse somewhere!! I honestly didn't care about anything other than him seeing that license.

I didnt want to make you feel bad if that was a bad moment for you so I stayed on the safe side. Thats nice, I bet when it happened somewhere in your head you were thinking this is definitely going to be something I laugh about one day.

Hahaha, thats how I'm going to be with the picture I have now!?

Well you could just go to the DMV and say what I said, that you got denied for purchase of something, or got harassed for your picture by a clerk or a cop. They should understand and let you take a new one. I don't know if you live in a big city or what, but probably the smaller the city you live in the better chance you'd have. Give it a try, it can't hurt. The worst they can say is no. You probably will be charged for it though, but it shouldn't be much, whatever a replacement license costs or less.

Somehow I ended up with a great license picture. There is no way you would be stuck with one picture for life, otherwise when you were 70 your license would have a childs picture! You can change the pic every time you renew the license.

Yeah I know by 70 I'd have to get it changed but I was thinking about now. how long does it take to renew your license?

It depends on your state, some are 2-3 years and some are 10. BUT...if you're either under 18 or under 21, you're guaranteed have the option (or have to) replace your license after those birthdays. You should certainly be able to get a new pic then along with the update for your age.

OH ok. That makes me feel better now I think if I ever had to show my picture I might mend. (when I get a new picture) If I cant wait till I'm 21 I'm going with the harass excuse right to the DMV with a psuedo sob story!?!

Before taking any picture that I know I won't be able to retake (school ID, driver's license, ect.) I always do my hair and make up perfectly, and spend a while practicing my smile in the mirror so I'll be sure I'm prepared for the actual picture haha. Has worked so far =]

I dislike mine. I look nothing like my drivers liscence photo. My hair was dyed black at the time, I had a fake tan, my eye makeup is too dark, I look tired and pissed off like I don't want to be there. My hair is dyed purple now, I hardly wear makeup, I wear my glasses more often, I no longer fake bake and my skin is as pale as a ghost. When I show my drivers liscence to people, they usually don't believe it's me on it.

My driver's license photo isn't too bad, but my student ID photo is the worst. Flushed cheeks, tired eyes, my hair a tangled mess, miserable facial expression, plus the camera widened my face, making me look super chubby.

That happened to me too. The picture made me look chubby as well.

I don't have a driving license but I do have a swipe card to get me into secure areas. The picture on it is ten years old and I always feel I have to keep my hair the same style just so I match my picture.

This mohican is costing me a fortune in wax.

  • thats one a lot of people would agree with, i have a pal whos licence photo makes him look like a wild mountain man with crazy eyes like an assassin , its hard to look at it without a silent scream inside, we all joke about that

I was so nervous so my brother tried to prepare me on how I should smile. When I got there and I saw him on the side with his creepy smile he wantd be to do, I wanted to burst out laughing. I ended up withholding the whole smile and now it looks so wierd! I look like I'm high or something!!! Is there anyway to redo it?

      • "lose it" and apply for another, change your hair colour or something and say you need a new photo to reflect your proper likeness

I asked about loosing it they said the picture would stay the same.. I dont think I can ever live with myself with changing my hair colour.
