Is it normal i hate goth??

What's with all this I love goth crap? I hate goth. I think it's ridiculous. Calling it goth is already a step towards ridiculousness. There. I said it. IIN? It's a stupid label for an empty style without any statement behind it? I'll respect a punk, post-punk and even an old school goth, but not those store-bought-kit goths. What's up with that?

Choice is individual, like religion. Respect that and move on with your life without judging others!

I'm a black female and I use to do the Goth thing. I wasn't trying to impress anyone or fit in with anyone. It was a reflection of how I felt and an expression of what I was interested in. To me its no different than a prestigious white guy wearing polos or a stoner girl wearing worn out hoodies and ripped jeans. There were people who didn't understand and tried to criticize but they really had no reason to care. Just like u don't. Also, look at the age group. They may be trying to figure themselves out. They probably feel like they have to wear clothes that match their feelings and/or music they listen to. Most will grow out of it. I did. I still have dark interest and enjoy the same kind of music but have realized that I'm no longer interested in looking like the walking dead.

Let people dress and label themselves however they want to. It's not your business.

The kind of people that I can't stand are the kind of people that will drone on about how important individuality is and how everyone that doesn't dress or think the way that they do is a sheeple or whatever they're called.

So if I wear a shirt from Aeropostle, I'm a sheep. If I go to church, I'm a sheep. If I like to eat chips instead of Organic-O's or whatever the heck they eat, I'm a sheep. If I listen to pop music instead of underground music and if I am cool with listening to things that are or have been liked by many people, I'm a sheep. If I get a job where I can't dye my hair funky colors, I'm a sheep. Losers.

You'll just have to do what I do and get over it.

Labels are retarded. You like what you like.

I don't really understand any of the stereotypes you listed. I just believe you shouldn't hate someone because how they appear. Appearance is not reality.
You should hate someone because of their shitty personality. Judge them how they are as a person.

    Live and let live.

Because you're not interested in the subculture doesn't mean others shouldn't be. If people want to dress that way, consume / create certain genres of art, and include themselves in a group, why shouldn't they? Because you don't think it's cool or appealing?

It's normal to find certain labels and subcultures unappealing. But don't use that lack of interest to shit on other people who are different to you.

those 'store-bought-kit' goths aren't real goths. sounds like you don't like the posers.
and goth has just as much a statement about it as punk, seems like you don't know enough about it.

perhaps the OP is confusing goth with emo

although... i don't see why it's bad getting goth stuff from stores.

unless you're weaving your own fabrics and hand-making your own makeup it's going to eventually come from a store anyway.

I had an older guy at a friends party ask me about my AC/DC shirt once. He was glad when he found out I actually was a fan of AC/DC and not just some kid wearing the shirt cause it was cool. I had to laugh about that.

I also laughed when my sister put on a t-shirt with Jim morrison on it and she didnt even know who he was.

I 've worn t shirts with a monkey on it but doesnt mean i'm a fan of monkeys... I wear it cause I like and find stylish one more time the "take care of your business" come up to story. So if you wear whatever you wear cause you like it and fit with yourself why would people be bothered with me not even being a fan of AC/DC?
I wear what I want. No offense bro.

You have to have personality the remains are remains.

I'm glad I don't know people like that. Personally I'd never wear band shirt and not be their fan that's kinda poser-ish

I remember I went through a faze of dressing differently than the norm. Not goth, but not socially accepted. My reasoning for starting was just cause it was comfortable. My reason for staying... I wanted to see if people could be accepting of me even thought I was a little different. The answer was no by the way. Only those close to me accepted me, strangers were rude and judged me by my appearance. Total let down on society right there...

Who made you king of labels? Since when do you get to choose who is worthy or not? I doubt you have any authority over these groups. You are just a wannabe.

I kind of agree with you. I don't like "wannabes". The ones who go "goth" just for the sake of being a "outcast" or they want to be cool. It's like with the majority of emos are teens who want to be cool or get attention. Look at what happened to the punk movement! Most of the people who claim to be "punks" aren't really punks. It's one thing if you like the style, but another if you're trying to be something that your not. I hope this makes sense.

Well, I don't judge anyone for anything, and I think it's silly and pointless and kind of one sided for anyone to hate someone just because they are different from you...

If what you're trying to say is that people who are fake piss you off, that's something I could agree with a little more. People who go out of their way trying to fit the stereotype rather than just being themselves..

But how do you know which group a person falls into without talking to them first? If you really think you can judge so easily just by appearances, then you probably miss out on a lot. :/

  • Store goths? Goth is self expresion. If it is not your thing is not to say its anything less meaningful. Also store bought anything is a poser. Also punk is a label so that is just as dumb in that case.
