Is it normal i hate anime so much?

I really, really hate anime.Don't say "don't knock it until you've tried it." Cuz not only did I try it, but I immersed myself in it.
That was 7 years ago. I was in seventh grade and in an asian country.I grew up watching Japanese cartoons like Let's &go, and such. So the minute I entered middle school I just threw myself into anime.I was obsessed with Japanese things, and anime characters. I guess I could be called a weeaboo back then.
I don't know what I liked about anime. Perhaps it was because I had crushes on some characters. But I was never as into it as some die-hard fans. Though I secretly envied them for liking anime so much and being able to draw the anime.
Now I've outgrown my weeaboo years and I absolutely detest anime. I think they are boring and humorless. Even there is some humor in my eyes its just an pathetic attempt at being funny. The plots can be " deep" but also pretentious. The so-called "deep" plots sometimes make no sense to me, and the Japanese ways of expressing love, hate, blablabla... just get on my nerves. The relationships in anime is overly girly, the characters are often overly cute, even the deep plot thing is getting lame... I can't imagine I used to like this kind of stuff.Now I hate anime emoticons too. HATE THEM.
I've met a couple of formal weeaboos. They all hate anime now. So I'm curious whether it is common for a formal weeaboo to hate anime...

    I like anime, but I have to agree with what you're saying. The reasons you listed are exactly why I turn down watching a lot of these shows, because I'm sick and tired of the cliches. I've found some good ones that were actually really original, like Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and Fullmetal Alchemist, but yeah. A lot of animes are just the same old thing over and over again with different characters, and I hate it.

    The main thing that bothers me is the fanbase that some anime have. From what I've seen, Naruto (and Hetalia, to a lesser degree) fans are absolutely nuts. I can only take so much "OMG Sasuke's my bishie!" and "That bitch stole my <insert hot character>" before I begin to hate anything related to the show with a passion.

    So don't worry, you're normal.

    Yeah. I actually grew up watching anime too, but I was never a die-hard fan. I actually enjoyed it and the Japanese culture, until I met the weaboos.

    Then, I lost it, and now I hate it.

    Yes. Anime was a fad for a lot of people. There's tons of people just like you, regretting ever liking it. Kinda like pokemon— but now everybody says it's cool again, so go figure.

    When you're old and crusty, anime will become a fad again and then you'll be proud to like it, but then you'll dump it as soon as it gets unpopular again.

    I used to love anime like you did. Now I have a love-hate relationship with it. 90% of the anime that gets produced is 100% shit. Like others have said, the fan-base is what I really dislike. There's only so much nonsensical screaming about Naruto that I can take without putting a gun in my mouth.

    That said, I'm a lot more picky about anime today. There are still some good, thought-provoking movies/series out there, but they are few and far between.

    i'm not a weeaboo but i do like anime still, i really liked this one series and when all others failed to meet my standards i started to find other stuff boring and dull and even ridiculous. I'm just hunting for the good stuff now. but not 24/7. But dubs are awful and the overly cutesy craps like the stereotypical ditsy cute girl or protect me im so weak! type(roll eyes) the guys are awful too.

    Anime has changed ALOT since 7 years ago.The graphics is way better.I mean really basing anime on Lets at go wtf man.

    Everyone has their own opinions. I'm not an anime freak and never will be but I do enjoy watching it occasionally. I hate people that make anime look stupid, especially people who don't even watch the good, hard to find anime, they only like watching the anime adult swim, syfy, and funamation badly dubs.

    I'm sort of the same way - used to be really into it, participated in cosplay a couple of times too - and now I more or less hate it all.

    Don't get me wrong - I still love to draw manga - but my own stuff, not characters. There are some manga's I don't mind - that I know are pretty good - but I don't read them. And I do like Miyazaki films too.

    But I harbour what could be considered a massive loathing for Hetalia. Massive loathing.
