Is it normal i had two different accents as a kid?

I live in derry, northern ireland, my da is english (liverpool) and my ma is irish (strabane). When i was a kid i used to speak in a liverpool accent in the house to my parents but when i was out with my friends or at school i spoke in a derry accent. I stopped doiing this around 9 or 10 years old. Is it normal?

That's interesting. I wonder if you realised you were doing it. I bet you're good at impersonating different accents, even now. But maybe not... either way, I think it's good.

I realised i was doing it but i dont think i realised why people had different accents. I used to talk in a derry accent with other kids cos i thought it was just how kids spoke and i spoke in a liverpool accent in the house because i probably learned a lot of worfs from my da in his accent.

I stopped doing it around the age of 9 or 10 as i realised it was weird.

I am pretty good at impersonating accents and i tend to pick up different accents easily without meaning to, for example i often talk in a pretend scottish accent without meaning to.
