Is it normal i had 14 piercings and a tattoo when i was 16?

As a teenager I was a rebel. I'm not going to shy away from it, yes I did stuff I shouldn't have. This is why when I was 16 I had 14 piercings (bellybutton, tongue, nose, eyebrow and all the rest) even worse so I had a tattoo. When starting University I realised what a big problem these were and how they were stopping me from getting all the opportunities that my friends were entitled to. My tattoo was at the side of my hand (so very obvious when I went into school the next day). A few months down the line, when I was 17 I got one on my arm and two on my legs. If you are unaware of the laws in the UK, you must be 18 or over to get a tattoo; so by getting one at 16 and three at 17 it was illegal. So is it normal I had 14 piercings and a tattoo at 16? I was bought up in a place where these things were unacceptable, but in other places it's entirely normal. I want your views and opinions. Comments are appreciated (as always).

Do you still have all those piercings? I thought I'd have mine forever. Silliness.

I once heard a woman complaining that the driver of a tow truck that serviced her had tattoos. As if only felons had tattoos. But times have changed. My mailman had a tattoo of a treefrog on his calf. Many bus drivers in my town have tats as well. But i think we may have an abnormally large percentage of tattooed people.

My boss tried to tell the bew girl to take out her nose piercing. The rest of the staff told her not to, it wasnt a policy, he just thought it was odd. Yet he never said anythibg to a previous employee who had a facial piercing. Two employees, actually.

My point, it is becoming more normal. And as easily offended grandmas babyboomers no longer dictate company policy, your tats will not be an issue. Perhaps some places will take longer than others to come around, but maybe should should consider moving if it is.

Ha Ha, caught you in a stereotype: I'm a baby boomer grandma and I have tattoos, the most recent only a few months ago

But the woman in my story was an easily offended grandma, and my boss is a baby boomer who dictates corporate policy. In no way did I mean it as a blanket statement.

That's OK: I enjoy letting people know I don't fit stereotypes

Well here in the Netherlands it's legal to have a tattoo and 14 piercings at 16 so I find it normal and I also do know people like you.

Well, that just proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that at least some 16 year old children have pretty poor judgement.
