Is it normal i get brazillian waxes with ducktape?

I was wondering if i was the only one who does this. recently i have gotten into getting Brazillian waxes but out of curiosity i have been having the salon do it with ducktape and maple syrup. It is way more painful then normal but it gets the job done. My only problem is my balls get really sticky afterwards and its hard to wash off the country kitchen syrup. My friends think its weird.
