Is it normal i forget mascots are actually people

Whenever I see a mascot I kind of forget its a person. Kind of like when you go to disneyland and see the characters you just like "Oh look its a mermaid". Along with this mascots never talk so in my head I just see it as this walking thing. I don't really see it as a person.

Also some how in my mind believe they don't understand me when I am talking to them. Is that normal? I not trying be cruel to mascots.

Though I think if I was in a mascot costume I would probably forget I am human too. Since when I am pretending to be in character I get very detached from myself. Why I like costumes where you can just cover your face. Since you can be whoever you want and you don't have to feel bad about your actions since its not like anyone can see you.

Isn't that the point of those costumes? That you see something other than the person wearing the costume.

You have demonstrated that you do have some understanding of there being a person under the costume, and if you didn't, I would find it abnormal, for an adult.

Yes, this is normal. It also sounds like you have a proclivity for wearing and performing in a mascot as well. You might try it out and see how you like it. The whole purpose in donning such a costume is to assume a new identity and a new set of ideals, so forth.
