Is it normal i find her burn scars attractive in a way?

My girlfriend has burn scars on much of her body. Her head and neck are unaffected so she can cover everything up, but she's afraid of people seeing her body and always wears a long-sleeve shirt and long pants. I think that's part of the reason she stays with me when there's way better guys out there, she thinks no one will accept the way she looks. I think her scars are beautiful. They're obviously not in line with conventional attractiveness, but they're unique. It adds a sort of identity to her body. Some people may think it's repulsive, but I think it's far more interesting and appealing than the generic bodies of celebrities and porn stars. I don't care what others find disgusting, her scars are lovely. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me, and I like the way she looks even if she and society don't. Am I freak for feeling this way?

nope not really! you sir are normal and more then that you are not bound by modern patterns of beauty and that by itself is great. But she should not be so conscious about it.

I see where you're coming from. I Don't mind people's scars, similarly I love women who don't wear wigs if they're going through chemotherapy. It's real beauty.

Thats really nice and quite normal, or at least what should be normal. Its beautiful in a different way, and it makes her special. The things that set us apart are what puts us together. Im one for chivalry and being nice to girls and im all for what you think. Keep doing what you do. Youre a great person for it.

This is really sweet :) But what bothers me about the comments is how people keep saying *AWW you love her flaws!* but who decided that scars had to be flaws in the first place? That is the attidude of people that make his girlfriend insecure to begin with. I know you support this man and his lady, but stop being so close minded about what a *flaw* is. Nothing is really a flaw if you think about it :)

I have scars on my legs and my ex boyfriends have never been sierras out by it. One said I'm like a tiger lol. It makes me feel secure and I usually don't think about it. I think excepting ones flaws means seeing someone as a real person just like you, and finding it unique. We all have insecurities.

  • It's part of who she is and it has a story to it. You love her and it's great that you think that way of her scars. I think you're totally normal. She shouldn't be afraid though about her scars.

I'm lucky because my girlfriend is beautiful. She could gain 200 pounds or become facially disfigured and it wouldn't matter. I could NEVER look at her and see anything other than a beautiful woman. Because her body is the wrapper that holds her soul. And it is gorgeous.

The flip side to that is, had I met her and had she was disfigured, I wouldn't have been interested in her. I would have missed out on amazing woman.

That's the problem. That human being are so ridiculously superficial. Everybody knows it's wrong. But it's wired into our DNA. It's been part of human psychology since the dawn of mankind. At one point it served an evolutionary purpose. But now, it is a useless trait. Maybe some day we will evolve past it.

Or at the very least the plastic surgery field will progress to the point where nobody ever has to look old or unattractive. It's coming. I bet 200 years you wont be able to tell a 20 year old from an 80 year that's had work done. If we aren't just buying entirely new bodies by then.

My boyfriend has 5 scars on the side of his body from when his lung collapsed as a teenager. I'm often fascinated by them and love running my fingers over them, because they constantly see so attractive to me. He's quite proud of them and loves telling the story of how he got them, so it's really been helping me feel comfortable and attractive with surgery scars all over my stomach from multiple laparascopies...though I don't know if an ovarian cyst the size of a grenade is quite as "badass" to live through.

My wife has a large C-section scar and scars on both knees from surgery. I don't think they detract from her beauty a bit. They are part of who she is and make her body unique.

I think scars are beautiful too. They tell a story. My left leg is covered in scars from an accident I had two years ago, and I love to show them off. I have met a lot of really cool people who ask me about what happened to me. Your girlfriend is very lucky to be with someone who not only loves her in spite of her flaws, but embraces them and finds beauty in them as well. Good luck and lots of happiness to you both. <3
