Is it normal i feel telling half the truth isn't lying

I won't lie or fabricate details I just won't tell the whole truth. I'll leave a detail or two out, and I don't consider this lying because what I said was true

It's lying if your aim is to make people believe something that's not true, or to hide the truth. (it's called 'lying by omission')

My mom does this shit and it's so infuriating. Here's an example, one of a jillion!, I found out she threw some of my stuff away, I asked her where it was, she claimed she 'didn't know where it was', she reasoned she wasn't lying because she literally didn't know where it was ANYMORE. She does shit like that all the time.

  • I don't think there's anything wrong with giving little information. Isn't it better than saying nothing at all?

  • My fact hiders ^^ are ones like, I'll tell my boyfriend i was with my friends and won't tell him where. if he asks where i give him a specific place. I wont give him a rundown. I was really with my friends and we were at that spot. Just a few other spots i left out. This is just my example but its the same pattern with most things

Well its just being misleading. Its dishonest but its not really a lie. It could be classified as well manipulative but its not lying. A lot of people do not understand what lying really is.
