Is it normal i enjoy when people and older adults give pet names?

Some people will call everyone they meet things like "Honey, sweety, darling". Now aside from the points when someone is obviously just trying to come off condescending I do not really mind. This is especially common with older folks. Some people consider this rude and improper. I usually enjoy it though. It makes me want to be friends with that person since I feel like they are nicer then most people. I do not particularly mind either when older adults speak to me in this manner. I know this annoys some people but I never understood why someone would be bothered by it.

I also find it endearing when older adults refer to others as "honey/sweetie". I agree that it makes them seem nicer/friendlier.

Just called others by their names because some people get offended easy. Idk why but they do. I can see how " Honey and darling" are little offensive to others, one should only use those to call those who are really younger.
