Is it normal i enjoy having sting ring?

Ate two packages of Ramen with about 3 table spoons of Sriracha dissolved in the broth. Spicy and delicious. Good going down. Now that its out I have a spicy case of sting ring and I'm enjoying the spicy pain just as I did when eating it... mild endorphin rush. Seems like a normal thing to enjoy once you get past the squickiness.

Me too. Chillies are something I always have in my kitchen. Fresh, flaked, pickled, in oil, and powdered. I do the same for the endorphin rush. I had a hiatus over the summer but last weekend my body was crying out for it. I ate something that left me feeling like I was still peeing molten lava 36 hours later. That's just the pee. The other symptoms you really don't want to know. Suffice it to say, I still have a sore arse after nearly a week.

The only problem is that I'm desensitised. When I first started eating hot food, I thought jalapeños were pretty decent then I slowly migrated to bird's-eye, scotch bonnet and habaneros but now they're not hot enough (unless I feel like something mild). It has to be jolokia or naga peppers now. Problem is, in terms of SHUs, they're approaching pepper spray, which is designed to disable a target. I'm eating something which is weapons grade and I'm *still* not getting the full kick I used to.

Just something for you to watch out for. Tolerance doesn't fade, either. I left it three months and was expecting a real kicking (which I got from the chillies on the way out, but on the way in I was never in anything more than moderate to moderately severe pain. In the past, I've prayed for death, and - at times - expected it).

I feel very miffed that I can't experience that. Also that, no matter how spicy people tell you something is, it *never* is. The only thing I've ever struggled with was one of Blair's sauces. I'm so used to things being wimpy, I took the stuff neat. I was in trouble deep. I only found out after that you're supposed to add just a couple of drops to a gallon of liquid to make a very, very hot sauce.

Oh my! Try habeneros, Ghost peppers or Naga Bhut Jolokia, Naga Viper peppers, Trinidad Moruga Scorpion (Its currently the world's hottest pepper), Infinity Chili peppers, Trinidad Scorpion Butch T peppers, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoville_scale

  • Apparently sting-ring enjoyment is for some, but it's not for me. Ouch!
