Is it normal i dont think a religious man should be president.

Ok now when i say religious i mean 700 Club style, Evangelical type. The last thing i want is some man making choices for America based on some type of missguided religious beliefes. I think any choice that is made for a country shouldnt be manifested by a man who thinks he is following "Divine Will"... Is this normal? Open for debate...

we have secular states for a reason.
I find that the less religious a person is, the more sympathic he or she is to me as a president.

I don't know what having a religious president is like as I live in England but our government constantly pisses off both the church of England and catholic churches which is definitely the way to do it. Leaders from both churches have condemned our government for wanting to legalise gay marriage like it should be but the governments told them to fuck off which is good.

Religions is VERY relevant when it comes to dealing with sentient beings, just not dumbed down, institutionalized, misinterpreted, illogical and narrow-minded versions of the original ideas that true greats like the Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed etc. had

I think that it is possible to keep our religion seperate from our political beliefs.

I am a Mormon. I believe that gay marriage should be legal. My family came to America for religious freedom - freedom to have our own lifestyle without being killed or persecuted for it. We took up Mormonism and had to flee the East just to get our freedom. I understand what it is like to be hated for wanting to live a different lifestyle. I can't ask a gay man to "fake it" and live a lie as a straight man, just so long as he doesn't ask me to "fake it" and live a life as an Atheist.

Last I checked, I was not responsible for the salvation of others. God loves all of his children, not just the straight, white, male, property owning ones.

"Last I checked, I was not responsible for the salvation of others."

Oh really? Funny you say that, because Mormons are compelled to baptize all their ancestors, family, everyone....It's a big part of being a Mormon. Silly you!!

The ancestors are given the blessing but are able to reject it in the afterlife. The only compulsion that Mormons have is to give others the choice to get Baptised. I can not speak on the behalf of family members that attempt to baptise eachother. If you're implying that such a behavior is exclusive to the Mormon religion then I would suggest you get out more. Invasive family members can exist in any relgion or culture. I can't be expected to take responsibility for another's actions.

The missionaries that go door to door, well, I really can not comment. I can't take responsibility for their actions either. That's a personal choice on their behalf and there is literally nothing requiring them to go do that, I would know, my husband certainly wasn't going to do that. So he didn't. We're not told that we are going to go to hell if we do not become missionaries, there aren't any Mormons lined up just to get the opportunity. In fact, most Mormons never actually become missionaries, myself included.

If you've had a bad experience with Mormons attempting to force a baptism upon you I would suggest that you contact your local authorities.

Yeah, I tried to go the legal route but the soul stealing charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.

Actually religion doesn't play a role while being president so I don't really care it just doesn't matter...

Better to have a religious leader or an atheistic leader who has no problem with religion than someone who is struggling with their own religion, i.e. Adolf Hitler. Ultimately, though, better to have a politician as a political leader and leave religious leaders to be heads of religions.

I think it's possible to have a religious president that doesn't make political decisions solely based on his religion. For example, I doubt that we would ever have a religious president who wanted to combine church and state. Mostly because we would never elect anyone who wanted to do that anyway.

Yeah, but let's be honest here- whoever it is that's gonna win the Republican nomination, they're going to lose to Obama. I have no doubt in my mind that Obama's gonna have a second term, no matter who it is he's going up against.

I know a lot of Democrats that still support him and still make excuses for him. Then again, the Democrats I know are the ones that make the Democratic party look bad :/

Besides, NO ONE likes Republicans. As far as I can tell, since most of the country in Democratic and the media is pretty much taken its side as being liberal. I have a feeling a lot of people would rather have Obama continue to be president than have another Republican in the White House.

Yeah, I'm kind of leaning towards his re-election to be quite honest with you. He has near fully assimilated into the Elite culture in the White House, but it wasn't actually a shock to me.

Honestly? The Republican candidates have their heads so far up their asses that I don't even know if they can tell me what the weather looks like. As opposed to talking about their economic policies they are all over TV talking about the dangers of birth control and getting Americans all riled up. Not that it isn't upsetting to me too but come the fuck on.

He's quite the idealist. He is so young and having trouble making real political decisions. He's trying to be a revolutionary president, hell, it was the premise of his campaign, but shit doesn't work out like that and he is learning the hard way.

Either way, better than having a Republican in office.
"The government should NOT interfere with out lives!"
"The government CAN NOT allow gays to marry!"
            Fo shizzle? Such contradicting policies...
