Is it normal i don't want to play this game anymore?
I love pokemon. I've played it eversince I was 8-10 years old (I've played up to Black and White). However, with the release of X and Y (Gen 6) a year ago, I feel as if one of my favorite franchises of all time is dead. Why?
Well, it's two things really:
- Introduction of the Fairy Type (as well as the reclassification of older pokemon into Fairy Types)
and
- Mega Evolutions.
I'll start with the Fairy Type. WTF, Gamefreak. Just... why? First of all, Dragon pokemon already HAD weaknesses (especially the dual-types such as Reshiram and Hydreigon). There was no need for a Fairy Type. Also, I think this was a horrible idea on GF's part. Not only did dragons have no effect on Fairies, but the Dark and Fighting types were also made weak to them. Gamefreak believes that the Fairy Types evened things out. No, they didn't. If anything, they made things more unbalanced. Second, logically speaking, there's no way a stupid, girly-ass fairy should out-strengthen a Dragon. Last time I checked, it wasn't fairies that beat dragons; but Knights. So, if dragons had to have even more weaknesses, wouldn't Steel make more sense? Just a really dumb move on Gamefreak's part (not to mention an obvious attempt to reel in more girl players). There was no need to change and ruin the typing of previous pokemon. Apparently Gamefreak was so desperate for the Fairies that they had to screw up previous pokemon just so there'd be "enough fairy types". Honey, you screwed up with the first Fairy Type.
and
Going on to the Mega Evolutions. Okay, why did they think it would be okay to rip off Digimon? This is not only stupid but absolutely retarded (Just goes to show that they completely ran out of ideas). And they accuse Digimon of ripping off of them? Oh please. What's worse is that over 20 pokemon have them and more are being implemented into the newest games to come out (OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire). Not only are they a cheap rip-off, but they're also ugly, completely pointless, and in some cases, overpowered.
Why would ANY pokemon need a cheap stone to change it's form to become stronger? What ever happened to just leveling your pokemon up the old-fashioned way by level griding (like you're SUPPOSED to, by the way). Were the people up at GF really that DESPERATE to add "Zip" to their franchise? Apparently so. If you honestly need a gimmicky, Mega Ripoff to win a pokemon game, you aren't a real pokemon trainer. You'd own your opponents Retro-style. Mega Evolutions: stupid and completely unnecessary.
And these are the reasons why pokemon is now dead to me. I refuse to buy the Gen 6 games (as well as those after).
R.I.P, Pokemon. You had a good run, my friend but the corporate bastards had to ruin you.
