Is it normal i don't tell people i'm dieting?

I'm low-carb/paleo dieting.
I have had mildly noticeable weight loss and fat loss over several months, but I don't want to tell others that "this is one of the healthiest and most successful way to lose weight" because at 5'3" and 125-130lbs I am not skinny.
Fellow future-skinny-people, do you feel this shame and embarrassment at taking time to healthily lose weight rather than dropping it all super-fast?

There is nothing to be ashamed about with the paleo diet. It wasn't created by people studying all kinds of foods and what they do to your body, and what you shouldn't eat because it has this certain chemical in it. It is simply going back to the basics, and eating what our ancestors ate before they had access to any kinds of tools for making/processing/harvesting food. I wish there was a form of thought where people could take this idea to thought, and stop letting Pschiatrists tell them they need all kinds of chemicals/pills in their body to fix things, when we've gone thousands of years with out them.

I hate telling people I'm dieting. They simply love to point out when you've slipped up and cheated a bit, as if you weren't aware.

What's to be ashamed about? Sounds like you're doing the right thing, the right way and just for you. It's stupid and pointless trying to lose weight fast imo as far as I'm aware it just makes it really easy to put back on. Also, it seems those people who announce they're going on a diet tend to fail a lot, maybe because by telling everyone they're putting themselves under a lot of pressure.

  • I've always kept company with people who didn't need dieting. We were all slim/fit and healthy... If one of them came up and said they were dieting, I must admit I'd find it funny :P

But if you're fat than I don't think theres an issue with trying to lose weight. Well done for trying to improve yourself! Dont feel ashamed :)
